Clearly we should have techmo-bowl'd it and ran back to the 1 to pad our stats. Les miles is an idoit.

Yes, we did, and it was. But we also had a much better QB and much more experienced receivers.

ok these are deep-intermediate passes I remember from the other night:

- high pass to Beckham (skinny post type play)
- fade to Beckham in the EZ that he dropped
- deep ball to RR (overthrown)
- PA deep ball to D-Lo
- deep ball to Beckham (holding penalty)
- Boone's drop
- the play to Clement (I'll let you judge drop vs. good def. play, I go with the latter)

that's just the ones that stood out, there may be more. point is, we tried stuff downfield, just didn't hit many. be patient, we'll get better.

I just rewatched the game and we did throw downfield about 6-10 times IIRC. Unfortunately the throws were just a hair off and the one long catch by OBJ was negated by a hold. In the beginning Miles wanted to establish the run and use that as the staple. I hope they work on it more this week.

Just savor the win, fellas.
We are who we are.
Embrace our identity.
The 2011 Tigers are not the 2007 Tigers.
this is bad news AND good news.
Just accept and ENJOY reality.
We just kicked Oregon in the uterus and added another epic skin to the wall.

Disagree on the second part.. Basically went into the season with Doucet as the only proven threat. Does anyone else remember the MSU game to start the season where Flynn had tunnel vision on Doucet the entire game?

Our recieving core didn't develop until Doucet got injured and they were forced to. A lot of the same going into this year.

Send Les an angry letter and let him know you are dis-happy. Say something like "I demand vertical passing!". Also say "blitz more" we need "the wildcat" and demand the TE be utilized properly.

This is funny because Clement and Peterson were probably the most targeted on Saturday.

On the topic of the OP wanting more 15-20 yard passes: Clement dropped one for 24 and a holding penalty called back one for 30+.

Add in the Clement drop, the OBJ holding call, and maybe one other drop/near completion and JL would've had nearly identical stats.

were you watching the same game? Did you see 5 dropped passes and 1 called back for a holding penalty? Come on man, enjoy this great victory. Our offense will get better. This game plan was centered on a good running game and solid defense to wear down the undersized Oregon team.

From what I understand, what we saw the other night is Les Miles football.

Yes it is. Embrace it or move on.

Here's a hint: Les game plans on what he thinks is the best way to win a game. I'm sorry but he really doesn't game plan to make you happy.

Personally I like winning. If LSU never threw another pass all season and went undefeated I would be happy. Apparntly you wouldn't. Sad.

Now that is funny. Many dropped passes kept Lee's yardage and passing completion percentage lower than it should have been. Just think if both of the deep balls were caught.

Between the phantom holding call that brought back a bomb to ODB33 and the dropped passes, he had 150 extra yards

As someone already stated, this is the Les Miles offensive identity. However, i think the game plan was also kinda vanilla due to the QB fiasco. Now that Les knows what he's working with at QB feel he'll work a gameplan around Lee to utilize the passing. But i wouldn't expect too much. Les will pound the rock until someone stops us and make Lee sit in the pocket on 3rd and 18 unfortunately. Really need to see some passes on 1st and 2nd downs so Lee won't be facing the blitz too much when we hit SEC play.

Lee just got to LSU? Les hasn't seen him before?

Can the vertical game maybe develop? I can't see the passing game regressing from here...

I think once Lee gets more comfortable with Randle and Peterson (in real game situations) then we will see some bombs. Until then I'm happy watching Ford and Ware knock heads off.

Ummm no....Stating that this game has been prepared for over the last couple of months and this season with a different QB expected as the starter. One that "has legs". They will have to plan for 4 quarters of a passing QB not just 20 plays.

When we get a more reliable qb that instills more confidence in Miles and our O coaches, you'll see more vertical.
