It seems LSU still has a chance to be #1 with a victory over UGa.

A couple of assumptions: (1) the losers of the conference championship games don’t fall more than 2 spots due to game being an “extra” game, and (2) rankings outside of top 10 don’t change.

If LSU wins and Ohio State wins, LSU has wins over #6 Georgia and #7 Florida (OU/Baylor loser falls as does Wisconsin). Ohio State has wins over #8 Penn State and #10 Wisconsin. So, LSU with the better top 10 wins.

LSU also has wins over #11 Auburn and #12 Alabama. Ohio State has wins over #14 Michigan and maybe #20 Cincinnati IF they win. So, LSU with the better top 25 wins.

The only things the committee can then do to f us is to either (a) put Penn State above Florida for some reason, and/or (b) count the OSU win over Wisconsin x2.

Nope

Unless we win 50-0 and Fields or Young get hurt we will remain #2 with an OSU win.

What? I think LSU gets #1 if they dominate UGA

If cincy loses, they will be out of the top 25 so that leaves Ohio St with just 3 top 25 wins over Michigan, Wisky, and Penn St. I can't see in that scenario how they would justify keeping Ohio St at #1 if LSU goes undefeated and beats then #4.

You are forgetting the all-telling subjective eye test they use!

If Cincy were going to dropout they wouldn't have fallen 1 spot. They will remain top 25 and you best believe they will play up the narrative of how hard it is to beat a team twice.

We all think that is what SHOULD happen but with what they are doing with the current rankings it's clear they are intent on TRYING to keep Ohio St at #1.

What worries me is that this gives the committee the argument to drop us out of the top 4 if we lose to UGA. They have shown that they don’t value our resume. They basically will give Ohio State the same credit for beating shitty Wisconsin for the 2nd time as they would give us for beating UGA in what is essentially a home game for them. They would not want us to play Ohio State in the semifinals in Atlanta.
