Firing a coach in September and still having this goat rodeo occur is textbook not making the right call.

Solid post. It would have been irresponsible to give in to Sexton's ridiculous demands to hire Fisher. Herman is going to Texas no matter what. Alleva made the best choice, given the circumstances.

Having coach O enables a reallocation of funds to the coordinators

ah. Other than the reports that LSU balked at 6 million for Herman and wouldn't wait around on him

What part of refusing to get into a bidding war with Herman was the right thing to do don't you understand?

we'll see if tom herman is worth 6 million dollars a year. he hasn't done a damn thing yet.

He's a little light on head coaching experience, but he has accomplished more than O as a college head coach.

It is not the shiny new car that the Tards wanted. I'm not jumping for joy but the fact is this was a process and to think that Alleva did not look at other candidates is absurd. Those that think that are showing their intellect and short sidedness. Alleva could not talk directly to any other coaches during the season but do you honestly belive he was not doing work in the background. Some of the thought process on this board is truly comical..

The fact is we don't know shite as for who else he talked to and/or what they wanted. Herman is at UT and was not coming. Jumbo, not coming. All of these other coaches mentioned have baggage. So maybe, just maybe we took the best / safest coach availabale that can build and grow this program. So with the other coaches that are available who is the sure fire homerun hire?

Majority of us, including myself wanted a sexy hot shot for our new coach. But to say this is a major fail is just dumb.

I wonder how this looks to the rest of college football ADs. Alleva and the rest of the admin bucked the tradition of bidding wars for top name coaches. Maybe schools are worried about where the average salary is headed?

We paid 10 million dollars to buy out Les Miles a month in the season and the best LSU could get was his D-line coach?

LSU has falling this far that that Odgeron is the best hire our pathetic A theletic department could come up with?

We set our football program and the LSU brand back at least five years because after a 7 week search our D-line interest coach was the best our AD could come up with to take over the LSU football program.

When LSU field Hallman we were stuck looking at coaches like pat Dye Jr. And Jerry Dinardo.

If Ed Odgeron is the best we could hire behind Les Miles imagine what the list of names LSU is going to be stuck with when trying to replace Odgeron in two years?

Thank You F.A.King and Joe Alleva for bring back the glorious days of mediocrity of the late 80's and early 90's.

As disappointed as I am of this hire at least I am not the TAF who is paying the 10 Million dollar buyout of Miles only to see my AD decide that after an extensive search Ed Odgeron is the best man to lead LSU football going foward.

Spot on!!!

O is in place. He loves LSU, his energy and enthusiasm will make up for other weaknesses. LSU avoids a bidding war that breaks the bank. O begins recruiting ASAP! O brings in a top flight OC and manages the program like a CEO! We now have a little cash to bump up Aranda's salary too! I like that LSU put its foot down to stop the madness of coaches getting $4 and $5 million dollars per year! What does that get you? A&M? Arkansas? Auburn? Tennessee? Give O a chance to make LSU GREAT again!!!
