More than likely Kling was green lighted 2-0. Based on how a lot of folks feel about him at this point as a hitter, this decision gave him the best shot to sit dead red on his pitch. The result won the game

He also threw 2 breaking balls in the dirt. Fastball was obviously coming and the kid left it up. He never threw another strike to next hitter.

2-0 is an optional take count. The previous two pitches usually decides it. If they were wild, you might take one. But when there are two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning. Probably not.

Who would give a take sign with a 2-0 count in that situation? Maybe if the pitcher has thrown 10 straight balls at that point, but that's about it. This isn't your 10U baseball team.

Every hitter is sitting dead red on a fastball they can smash on 2-0 and 3-1 counts. This is normal.

I was just hoping he got a hit a that point. He smoked that pitch. I was ecstatic.

Agree. Such a gutsy decision. That's why Johnson gets paid the big bucks.
