Also, I was defending ULL several pages ago in this thread saying they are probably the second best team in the state when healthy. Having said that, I just think it's a bit much for anyone to say they are now a top 25 caliber team. You certainly don't see me saying anything about how LSU deserves to be in the top 25. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe I ever made any statement/prediction how LSU would easily defeat ULL.

Nope, the author of this thread was clammoring about this. I was just pointing out the Cajuns aren't going to be world-beaters over night. Now, I definitely think they can possibly gel and win the Sun Belt tourney down the road.

I live in Lafayette, so I'm really planning on going. I know somewhere in the back of my closet I have a retro Brady Ball shirt I can wear.

Damn, I might have gone had it been on a Saturday when LSU was out of town. I'm pretty sure LSU hosts Ole Miss on Valentine's Day...

I'm from Lafayette, but by no means am I am UL fan. I'm an LSU graduate.

So I'm watching the UL/Denver game replay on CST, and it amazes me how UL came back to win that game. They couldn't make a shot in the first half. There's 9 minutes left in the 2nd right now, so they must have had a furious comeback. Props to them for that, but they could not find the bucket at all early in this game.

Also, their PG Randell Daigle looks like "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal. <____<

Again, it's the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, not the University of Louisiana. It would be a disgrace to the state to have such a shitty team represent us. ULL

I find it funny that a ULL guy/gal is flaming LSU athletics. That's like me flaming Harvard on their academics.

LOL, its funny how cocky you are about LSU basketball program. For the past 10 years LSU basketball has been all sub par talent with no coaching. As far as schools in the state of Louisiana that LSU play, we all know that LSU is known for dodging state opponents that are a real threat to beat them.

Just admit it, UL Lafayette is a real threat to beat you all and I guarantee that UL will disapear off LSU basketball schedule next season just like they did after the 2005-06 season. I'm not a fan of either school, I just love the game of basketball. I was at that game in '05 and LSU did win by like 15 or so, but if Cameron (7'0 center who was killing LSU with those 3 pointers) who was playing for UL didn't dislocate his shoulder in that game, LSU would've been in a world of hurt even with Tyrus Thomas and Big Baby on that squad.

After that game UL disappeared off their schedule for 2 years until this season when they know they are rebuilding. Same thing happend to Northwestern State after the 2004-05' season when LSU found themselves in a dog fight until 6 min left in that game. The next year when Northwestern State developed, they went on to beat Iowa in the first round of the 06' NCAA Tournament. LSU never played them again until this season.

I know for a fact that UL lafayette offered LSU a 2 for 1 deal before this season to play them for the next 3 seasons, meaning LSU would play UL at home in 08 and in 09. In return LSU would have to travel to Lafayette for a game in 2010 but was declined!

What's up with that? My feeling is if you claim to be the top dog in the state, "Any time, any place, any where shouldn't matter right?"

Which includes a couple of SEC Championships and multiple SEC West Championships. Not to mention a Final Four appearance which is nothing to be ashamed of.

Please name me one state school that LSU has "dodged" over the last decade. If anything, LSU plays too many in-state schools.

I'm pretty sure LSU won by at least 18, but nice attempt to spin an 18 point loss. Injuries are part of the game, and LSU has certainly suffered their fair share of major injuries over the last decade.

LSU's in a position where they don't have to go play at other venues within their own state. How many other major schools do you see traveling around their own state to play games? It's no secret that LSU has nothing to gain from these games, and everything to lose. IF LSU beats ULL, it was expected and nobody makes any kind of fuss over it. IF ULL were to knock off LSU, it would be their equivalent of making the Final Four.

I didn't say over a decade, I said back to back seasons! Sure I would love to play a school more than once every 10 years because you know that they won't have the same squad if the two meetings are spead apart. Example of this is the two state teams I mentioned in my post.

If you think coaching got LSU to the sweet 16 in 2000 and the final four in 2006 then you need to shoot yourself!

Tennessee and Mississippi State both SEC schools traveled to UL Lafayette within the past 3 seasons to play them so I still don't understand why LSU, a SEC school, can't do the same.

I'm not putting a twist on anything, I'm sure you researched the box score of that game in 05. I was at the game and remembered it.

No LSU is not in a position not to travel to other state schools in basketball. They talk about in the news how state school athetics are struggling like UNO who is considering canceling their athetic program. Everybody knows LSU is a big attraction to any school in this area so why don't they help them out and play a game somewhere else.

Like I say again, if they are as good as you say they are, the possibility of losing shouldn't even be a concern to them right? Cause like YOU say, they are farrrrr better than the rest of the teams in this state.

In the words of people that blog on this board "I call Bullsh*t!" You know it and I know it!

Who said anything about coaching? Also, if LSU had sub par talent and bad coaching, how did they accomplish those things?

Probably because they can make a hell of a lot more money hosting the game 57 miles down the road. Is Tennessee doing this in their own state? LSU has played games at Houston, Wichita State and Northern Iowa in recent years. Why don't the Vols travel to MTSU for a game?

Yeah, I was there too, and LSU easily won the game by 18 or so points. However, I guess you can chalk up another moral victory for the Cajuns. You sure sound like a Cajun fans talking about how things could have been if this would have or wouldn't have happened.

It's not impossible, look at their loss against Tulane last season. However, it's no secret that LSU is far superior in general when it comes to athletics within the state of Louisiana.
