It doesn't matter who you're laughing at. You're giving him a nickname that he cannot possibly want (for reasons that aren't very clear to me).
It's not the name, it's what's associated with it.

Dude, I've seen the video, and I get the analogy...I really do.
But the nickname is what's at issue here. It's undeniably terrible. Why would people want this to stick?

Okay, I'm going to go ahead and say it. If he is offended by the name, he clearly isn't as cool as the Honey Badger. Honey Badger don't give a shite about anyone who declares their own nickname. That's some silly shite on the level of Rickey Henderson.

Ridiculous that an organically derived nickname (via genuine fan respect and admiration) like "Honey Badger," which received like 90% support (in favor) from this forum, largely because of the video with oddly contrasting narration, still is being debated.
I liked the nickname because it was original and relevant (e.g...."he doesn't give a s**t, he just takes what he wants" is freaking hilarious and RELEVANT), but I guess too much for such a narrow fan base.
