Dunno if this is brought up already, but like I said in the other thread: This has been discussed already, and they basically already decided that if it followed its current course (and unless it stops completely there is no reason to think now that it won't) they will cancel the game for favor of the common bye week we have later.

I will be surprised if LSU doesn't move heaven and earth to make sure this game is played as scheduled. You can't just start fricking with the schedule willy nilly and not expect it to impact the players in some way. LSU (especially the QBs) needs all the game experience they can get before they roll into Auburn in 3 weeks. Not to mention that they might really need that bye week later if we have some guys who are banged up.

I totally agree. LSU will need the bye week where it is. QBs need some experience before AU game.
Tiger stadium aint going nowhere.

I'm thinking it will be postponed in favor of the common bye week later on in the season.

Why, exactly, would they not play the game?

playing in the middle of a cat5 hurricane is safer than parking your car at legion field.

Possible....but I hope not. Of course if BR gets beat up pretty badly by Gustav then all bets are off. I just think that maintaining a sense or normalcy and keeping the players in their routines is very important. We don't want to play Auburn at night in Jordan-Hare with a totally green QB. Both Lee and Hatch need all the real game-time snaps they can get. Just as important is keeping the bye week open in case we have some guys get hurt.

Bet on Shreveport at the alternate site.

How are you going to fit 70,000 season ticket holding fans into Independence stadium? Who gets left out? Logistically it wouldn't work.

Your logic of getting the game in, regardless is right on. LSU NEEDS to play the game (from a football standpoint). If for whatever reason Tiger Stadium is not available next weekend, Shreveport is the likely destination.

I can't think of a good reason, but I'm not the one making the decision. Politicians will make the decision and they don't use good reasoning. It's the same reason that the game today was moved up 6 hours. No reason at all.

How much practice do you really think will occur this week?

LSU already moved heaven and earth to get todays game to happen. Despite all of their assurances, it came out today that as late at Thursday, the decision behind closed doors was go no. Miles in particular was really adament for some of the reasons you cited.

But regardless, I can promise you that if the hurricane follows its current track, there will be no game this weekend. Bump this up again and rub it in my face if I wrong, I'll be just as happy you would be.
