after all we are paying him pretty decently.

1.5 million is not a really high salary for a coach.

Overall 34-50
SEC 7-32
Top 25 1-11

for this record? I think we could get a jr. high coach at half his salary and get the same results

Offensively we suck. After watching our shooters taking 40 footers and being 12 feet short wasn't my idea of a disciplined offense. We had absolutely NO game plan yesterday. And NO I didn't think we could beat a fine Kentucky team. But to at least compete hard was not asking too much. It looked like the team and Trent both quit.

I think if we get Gathers to compliment Morgan next year and all the other eligible players return we'll have a team that IMHO is talented enough to make the tournament.

with the expanded field I can almost guarantee there will be a few less talented teams that make the at-large field THIS year.

There are players on this team. Hickey and Hamilton can ball, JOB is very talented and Warren, Turner, and Stringer are all good enough for this level. To not even be on the bubble with that amount of decent players is truly unbelievable.

No, they aren't on the same planet talent wise as UK, but I refuse to believe this team couldn't be one of the best 37 teams not to win a conference.

Not a lock but LSU is certainly in it.

You could let the team coach themselves and hardly notice the difference. I'm not a BBall fan but I went to the free game before the homecoming game this football season. LSU looked like the team that plays against the Harlem Globetrotters. One big white boy couldn't even run and dribble at the same time and this is a college Basketball team. Really?

The only thing I see that the basketball team does with any consistency is the weave the ball well just inside half court, the big men set screens for the guards one foot inside half court and if we dribble the ball into the zone, we pass it back out or turn it over. There seems to be no offensive set or plays run. We can't execute the basic pick and roll at any time during a game.

Even John Brady took LSU to the Sweet 16 in his FOURTH year, and that's after the NCAA almost gave LSU the DEATH PENALTY. This is pathetic. Does anyone remember we were beat by MCNEESE last year? That hadn't happened (losing to a in-State school) sine 1988!!!!!!

Stromile took the Tigers to the Sweet 16 in Brady's third year. We were right back in 6th place the next year.

Brady's first four years in the SEC West: 6th, 6th, 1st, 6th. He finished dead last two other times and 4th once to boot. They were a mostly terrible team that would ride the strength of an NBA talent (or two) for a season. The Stromiles, Brandon Bass, Tyrus Thomas types were band-aids. There has been no program building here since the late 80s.

Please don't act like the current coach has sunk the program or something. We've been a (mostly) bad team since Shaq left. And that was twenty years ago. Rebuilding LSU basketball (properly) is a 5-10 year project minimum.

This team is MUCH (muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch) better at breaking the press, and a little better in rebounding than the past two years.

The team really hasn't been stifled by the press at all, by anyone this year (maybe a little by Alabama?). I think Hickey has a lot to do with that.

You'll have to admit that even Brady (and I'm no Brandy apologist) was better than this guy, albeit very inconsistently.

Only an imbecile could claim Trent w/LSU is better than Brady/LSU.

I don't see it.

And if this team finishes better than last in the west, he'll be BETTER than Brady was in his first four years.

So, no I don't have to admit it.

People saw two Final Four runs, and think LSU was a great program that hit a dry spell in the late 2000s.

It's the exact opposite. LSU has been a really bad team since 1993, that benefited GREATLY from a few NBA caliber players.

I posted yesterday that LSU has won 51% of their games overall, and 39% of their SEC games since 1993. 39 fricking percent.

And that's WITH Swift, Thomas, Davis, Thornton, Dupree, Garrett Temple, Chris Johnson, Randy Livingston, and Anthony Randolph who've gone on to multi-year NBA careers. There are also some D-League caliber players (Lazare, Mitchell, Mo Carter, etc.) as well.

With ALL of that talent, we've won 39% of our SEC games since 1993.

Without the talent, you could be looking at the worst major conference program in the nation over the last 20 years.

People really, REALLY need to realize that.
