Yes, baseball is, by far, the hardest sport to make it to the highest level in, but you always have guys that grind and get there. It is often just how long you want to chase it. Austin Nola is in his 5th year in the Bigs. Tre has a lot more talent than him (albeit probably not the ability to catch).

People really conflate what Morgan is able to do with what he did. He has plenty of raw power to play first base at the next level. You can see his exit velos and how far he hit the ball and see what he's capable of doing, but that was never his role on our team. He choked up and hit the ball to all fields. I liken him to a guy like Brandon Belt. Belt had 14 total home runs in 2 seasons at Texas and was elite defensively. In his now 13 years as a starting 1st baseman in the majors, he has hit more than 18 HRs in all of one season, hitting 29 in 2019. But he has a .994 career fielding%. To say there is no value in a player like Tre at first base is simply not true.

It depends on the organization too. The last few years the Astros have had Gurriel and now Abreu. Neither are power hitters. Abreu was in his prime but he’s a better than average first baseman nowadays.
