Don't breath when the cropdusters fly over.

Any general tips for making the trip?

General Tip #1:
Starkville is not in the 201*s or the 200*s, the folks there are MAYBE in the 1990s. Act and think accordingly.

General Tip #2:
The average IQ of Starkvillians is about 20% lower than the average of the U.S. in general. Act and think accordingly.

General Tip #3:
To call Starkvillians "uncultured" or "unsophisticated" is a compliment to them. Act and think accordingly.

General Tip #4:
Don't go. Wait and go to Columbia, S.C. instead. Stay in Greenville. I hear it's nice now.

The town is not really as bad as some would have you believe. The stadium is a lot nicer now than when I was there last. Their video board puts ours to shame, and for a smaller venue, they give visiting fans pretty crappy seats. Seems like there are fewer visitor seats in the lower deck than we allow in Tiger Stadium.

Hope to God that we take their fans out of the game early, otherwise get ready for lots and lots of cowbell.

Here is the Ms St website...shows free and paid parking...it is about like LSU, so expect a clusterfrick getting to and away from campus...there is some free parking south of the stadium along Stone Dr, if I remember correctly. There are also a good number of private facilities (churches, etc.) on the way in that will let you park for $15 or so....

LINK

Starkville is a small town, so don't expect much out of town...good places to eat/drink would be mugshots and the fairpark grill along with a few others...

Columbus is only a half hour away and offers quite a bit more as far as hotels and food...

ETA: agree totally with longhorn about their jumbotron...never seen one that big...
