train to omaha?

ok i know its premature, but whatever im trying to make plans regardless...someone told me there was maybe a train that ran straight from Denham Springs to Omaha, but when i looked all i saw was amtrak stations that had to go up to chicago then down to omaha...anyone know of anything else?

goes thru Chicago to NOLA. Looking to take it back. Takes about 19 hours and was $180 1 way last I checked

Hey, if ya want to travel cheap, get a list of what time the freight trains are running. I used to have a graduate professor who took his vacation hoboing every year. Lucky bastard never got caught or rolled.

you also will split that with people.

Its very expensive considering airfare is nearly the same price.

This is a new one. But after I think about, I could picture the typical, slightly-off professors that I remember probably doing the same thing

180 ONE WAY is very expensive.. I once took the train from NOLA to CHI for like 40 bucks round trip on some special they ran.. Airfare only like 40 dollars more and you get there faster.. The train is ok but NOT worth 180 dollars to sit in coach and sleep on it.. Then the view you get is of junk yards..

The airfare to Omaha have increased I wonder why. But, you can fly to Kansas City round trip for about 171.00 and rent a car and drive 2-3 hours.
