No, it's not. Stop swallowing what ESPN is spoon feeding you.

A widely held opinion is that Alabama is much, much better than Oklahoma State. I agree. Most people do. If OSU had barely defeated Iowa State by simply making a field goal, would that change your opinion, or anyone else's, as to whether OSU as a team is as good as 'Bama? No, it wouldn't. The simple act of the OSU kicker putting the ball 6 feet to the left wouldn't change anyone's opinion as to whether OSU was as good as 'Bama.

However, OSU would then have been 12-0, conference champs, and on their way to play us in New Orleans. And no one would be complaining, even though the two "best" teams weren't playing for the title. The irony, though, is that you wouldn't hear ESPN telling us that the two best teams aren't playing in the national title. They would be telling us that, obviously, the system got it right by putting the two unbeaten teams in the title game, yet almost everyone, if asked directly, would assert that 'Bama is clearly better than OSU.

Wrong

I really wish people did just a little reading before they run their mouth like they know what they are talking about.

THE BCS SAYS
LINK

quote:

This robust system of post-season bowl games offers rewards for teams and places a great premium on the regular season

Yeah Right
AND
quote:

The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) is a five-game showcase of college football. It is designed to ensure that the two top-rated teams in the country meet in the national championship game,

The system was manipulated to get bama @ #2 in the final BCS......OSU had a better resume. Bama and ESPN were left to argue the quality of a f...ing loss.

1. I feel completely confident in LSU beating Bama again. We won on the road and we actually got in the redzone 3 times. I think our team is much more battle tested and we get the game in the dome.

2. I will give Bama credit for beating a good Arkansas team, but Penn St. and Auburn are garbage this season. OSU has wins over OU, KSU, and Baylor who are all legit teams. They also played an overall harder schedule.

3. With how everything fell and the logic of voters putting Bama in the game I don't think even if OSU would have lost one of their games to the a quality team they beat and beat Iowa St. the voters would have put them in the NCG.

Bama got in because of media hype and voters siding with a more familiar name.

If that happened, there would have been an even bigger outrage and even more calls to boycott the BCS.

OSU is more deserving for a chance at the tigers based on their wins and what they did this season. But the objective of the BCS is to have the 2 best teams in the country play for it all, and I think the system has done just that. The 2 teams just happened to be from the same division in the same conference this year. Anyone who says LSU and Bama aren't the 2 best teams are only kidding themselves.

I would have made Bama and OK St play a game and the winner gets to play LSU

They used the subjective eye test to put Bama in the NC.

It had nothing to do with actual accomplishments as Bama didn't have any.

I guess USC should have been in the NCG every year. People pimped them as the best team basically every year even if they had more losses or worse losses.

Bobby Bowden said rematch does not work. Fl. State beat Fl. during regular season, had to play rematch with Fl. for Championship and lost 51-21. He said his team lost desire for rematch, does not work. LSU beat Ole Miss during regular season with Billy Cannon. Lost rematch in Sugar Bowl, 21-7, rematch does not work.

Well guess what buddy, Bama lost by 3 to the number one team in OT this year. Can you honestly say that Bama isn't one of the best 2 teams in the country? Really explain that because I'd love to hear your argument.

I think the rematch might work in LSU's favor in this instance because all of the talking heads will spend the next month saying Alabama gave away the first game and is really the better team.

LSU started out flat against Arkansas and Georgia, and I could see the same thing happening against OSU. But they will come out with guns blazing against Alabama after a month of being disrespected.

LSU beat Mississippi State 19-6. Does that make Mississippi State the second best team we've played?

I think we win, no reason to be upset. That and the ZM era starts soon . LSU isn't going anywhere anytime soon . Win or lose Jan 9th, I wouldn't be suprised to see LSU in the NCG next year.

I can honestly say that the Big 12 and SEC were the two best conferences. So something more like a playoff would be to let the two conferences champions play for the title.

I see the BCS's main goal as determining the #1 team. In no way do I think putting two teams in the same conference in the game as an avenue to do that with a 120 team field.

Also I think you have to look at the team's accomplishments also and not just pick teams as the best.

I am confident LSU will win against Bama in the dome. I guess Bama will still be #2 in the eyes of everyone after since they would only have losses to LSU too.

There is absolutely no objective way to know that this is true.
