The over reaction by alot of fans is a little silly only 2 1/2 yrs into his tenure here.
It is the nature of the fanatic Hub. At least we still have a few folks left passionate enought to over-react.
I'm concerned with alot of things but the reality is Trent will be here next year and I for one hope he can turn it around.
As I have often pointed out, Coach K was 38-47 after 3 years at Duke and 11-17 in his third year there after frankly, taking over a program that was in very good shape when he got there (much better than ours when Trent got here). And the fans there wanted him out. He barely made it to his fourth year.
Now I'm not stupid enough to think Trent is K, but I'm gonna give the guy another year. He's getting one whether or not I give him that anyway.

He won at USM with Brett Favre, which is what got him the job at LSU in the first place. He beat Auburn, FSU, and went on to have winning records there.
Much like how TJ won his first year at LSU with the spill over from the 2006 BR superstars team.

there are times when if we didn't take a bad shot, we wouldn't take a shot at all.
We need some aggression on offense.

I completely agree with you Tiger Ugly on next yr. I guess my problem isn't with the fans who watch the games and are upset. I just don't understand people who say "I watched one game and I hate basketball anyway so let's fire the coach."

TJ was fairly successful at two different programs before getting the job at LSU. He was also coach of the year in two different conferences before coming here. All that being said, if next yr the team isn't better then a change may be needed.

That's what I'm saying money, exactly. The idea that you have to grind out possessions and run the clock to shorten possessions when you are talent-deficient is a widely perceived notion that I disagree with.
We run an offense that I think is wrong for our personnel. And because of that running the clock in no way garauntees you get a good shot at the end.
So when you get an open look take it. Like I said, maybe....maybe two of the threes yesterday were shots that I would consider irresponsible.
The rest were open looks I've seen Turner and Stringer make often earlier in the year. And when you have no inside presence...and we have none, you are just going to have to live and die by that.
Turner missed alot of good open looks yesterday. He hits just 2 or 3 of the 7 or 8 open 3's he had, and what a difference that makes.

Stop defending a coach that can't coach. Time to move on. If this was Baseball or Football there would not be one LSU fan that would be defending him.
Basketball is the easiest team to turn around. You need 2 guys that can play and you get into the big dance. Let's move on now so we can get better recuits for next year.

It keeps you from getting beat by 20 like this team has done numerous times and we continue to shoot from 35' after the first pass.

other than late game sits it doesn't matter when you miss them...it only matters if you miss them.
just pay your taxes and shut up.

You need to message Chicken and change your name to GeorgeTheDick. Every message I read of years is a POS post calling another poster out. You're not contributing anything to the threads, so STFU. The poster didn't come off sounding pompous. He seems to know a hell of a lot more about basketball than I do.

I didn't read this whole post... But y did Derenbecker get so little playing time? Only played 8 min. I see that he had 2 turnovers in those 8 min but he didn't even touch the floor in the second half.

I agree in theory. In reality it's easier in some situations and contexts than others.
As far as moving on (assuming you mean fire Trent) that's not gonna happen until the end of next year at the earliest. I think even you must realize this.
So I'm gonna give him that. If that's defending him so be it.

Yeah, if you don't turn it over trying to run that high post weave and give up an easy basket at the other end or charges and blocks as you scramble or run out the clock.
The least one can do is try to win. Taking open shots when you get them and living or dying by that to me is preferable to holding the ball is long as you can to so you can get beat by 18 instead of 28.
Now I agree on the 35-footers. Stringer made a surprising percentage of those early, but he isn't anymore. Needs to stop that. But the extent to which he is taking shots like that IMHO is being greatly exaggerated.
Like yesterday. Maybe two of those shots in my view were irresponsible. All the other threes taken I thought were open and reasonable looks taken by the kids on the team most capable of taking them.
Again, my issue (in this context anyway) is the offense Trent's running not taking shots with more than 10 or 15 seconds on the shot clock.

You agree with the poster that obviously has utterly no clue about how basketball recruiting works. "Let's move on now so we can get better recruits for next year." Obviously, this guy doesn't have a clue about basketball or recruiting for that matter with a statement like that.

It wasnt but a couple years ago all of you were all up on Trents nuts so stfu. Sick of hearing you tool bags.

watched the Tigers for the first time yesterday against MSU. That is the worst team I have ever seen wearing the purple and gold....going back to the early Press Maravich years.
Trent Johnson has a constant case of the "red arse".
His team plays with no discipline. They could not even get a shot off with 9 seconds left at the end of the game.
I hope we get someone else because this guy cannot coach or motivate or recruit. I am sick of the excuses.
Agree.

the hardest part of this year is yet to come. Aleva is sticking by his man and even if we drop all the rest of our games- you are going to see TJ as coach and most likely you will see him next year.
Is it too much to ask that we start seeing fundamental play? The kids we have must have had some poor HS coaches. They lack basic skills. So if we are going to tank this season then teach these kids basic skills

Have you seen them this year? They are even more of a train wreck than we are
