Question, since the students always leave early, should we go back to Troy last year and find out who left so we can offer their tickets up to fans who will stay the whole game? Without the students LSU does not exist. The same people in this thread who say without alumni money LSU football would not be the way it is today are the same people who say the NFL sucks because it is commercial and all about the money.

I agree TAF has played a major role in bringing LSU's program to what it is today, however we (LSU fans and administrators) need to find a happy medium.

Either way, geaux tigers!

I must say I agree. I was sitting in the Vandy section and next to an LSU student who said that ticket was the only way he could get into the game. He had no luck getting a ticket for the student section. I was appalled at this. Yes, I left near the end of the 3rd quarter soaking wet and the student was still there yelling his guts out.

P.S. Move the Tiger Band back were it use to be.

A little about me.

1) I went to LSU from 2001-2007
2) A graduated in Chem and ChE
3) I am a member of TAF
4) I have season tickets through TAF

As a student, I loved the student section. It truly was a fun place to sit and watch the game. I loved to cheer and get roudy with the other students. But, I'm a big boy now. I mainly take business customers to the game where we tailgate in Lot A. For the record, in 2003, when LSU played LaTech, I went into the game at kickoff, went to the upper portion of the student section, and 75% of it was empty. My friend and I had plenty of seats around us, infront of us, and behind us. I'm sorry to the freshmen students that don't get to see a game in the student section, but that's life my freind. LSU is a quality product, which many people want to see. Dinardo's last game, the North and South enzones were practically empty! So you see, let's tank the team by going 2-10, 3-9, and 1-11. Then the entire university will be able to see the game, oh wait, if that happens then they won't be there either CAUSE WE'LL SUCK THEN! Freshmen only want to go because LSU IS GOOD. Well, the only way LSU stays good is by charging a butt-load of money for these seats so that they can build things like the Football Operations Facility and the Cox Communications Center for Student Athletes. Plus, we're only talking about one season. After your freshman year, you'll have 3,4,or 5 more seasons to have full season tickets for LSU football.

So they changed it from last year? Last year the consensus on here was that was part of the student section. I think it was said that it is for med students and law students but not completely sure. Empty just like it has been in previous years.

Nope, that wasn't the consensus last year...just what YOU thought. When we argued about this last year, it was the section that is there for the general public...It was like that last year, and it is like that this year. Same freakin section. The med school and law school section is where my girlfriend and I sit, and it is where the band used to be. Actually, if you wanna get real technical, the greek section is the section where the band used to be...we are right above that. It's section 224 I'm pretty sure. So, you are wrong...once again...Just sayin...

Welcome to the rest of Tiger Stadium!

There's this old fart in my section who had me, my stepfather, and my father thrown out last year for having booze.

it sucks. something we have to deal with though.

Let me guess - your seats were fairly decent?

I agree. It's all about making money while they can. You could tell a difference in the Student Section last night. It was good last night in many ways but it didnt have the same feel as other years even in the same conditions.

Tiger Stadium is not going to change until the older fans and families begin to loose their tickets in whatever form. The reason the stadium is so dead is because of the type of fans that are able to afford tickets right now. We will never be feared again until we start having a younger fanbase at the games. Those people just dont care.

I went to LSU '82 - '87. All we had to do to get into games was show our ID. I appreciated the money that TAF has brought in, but I do think that it is sad that Tiger Football has become a comodity that all of the students don't get to enjoy. It is a right of passage to sit in that student section.

The best part of all of this is that LSU can justify expanding to over 100,000. That takes TAF's help though.

I graduated last year and never had a problem getting student tickets when I didn't get them for some reason. A friend's girlfriend didn't want to go so I would get hers or someone would pass out before the game.

My dad's tickets are on the 40, 4 rows up. When I get them I still walk over to the student section every time. It pisses him off, but there is no comparison. The only advantage to his seats are that you can sneak liquor in a lot easier. But watching the game from any other seat besides the student section is a disappointment.

The bottom line is that we need TAF and the student section LSU should create a master plan for expansion. In the long run it will make the school more money.

I also believe that the student tickets should cost more. Like anything in life it's about supply and demand. If you can't pay, you can't go. LSU football games are not a right they are a privilege.

EXPAND THE DAMN STADIUM.

I'm a senior economics student at LSU. In a stadium of 90+ thousand people, I would argue that allocating 5,000 more tickets to the students would not have a strong enough effect on LSU's income from ticket sales to seriously hurt our athletic program. The extra 5,000 rabid LSU students screaming their heads off could actually help recruiting as it has to look more attractive to visiting recruits than the old fricks whom only stand for the "Star Spangled Banner" do. Y'all act as if LSU's football money comes solely through ticket sales, neglecting to consider licensing fees and the like.

Explain to me how our program will deteriorate if we lose those 5,000 seats. I assume that you don't know what you are talking about.

It has nothing to do with what I thought about the section. If it is for the general public, why is that entire section completely empty? Sense you seem to know so much.

5,000 tickets for seven games. That adds up. Older people are more likely to buy concessions, programs, hats, shirts, etc. Also you have to make a donation to get season tickets, which costs more than the tickets i believe.

5,000 tickets in the north endzone
$210 manditory donation to LSU a seat a season

$1,050,000 lost to LSU

If you don't think a million is a lot of money, you never had a million in your checking account.

That would make more sense if I'm used to having millions of dollars in my checking account.

Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come off like that, I just don't like the people that say, "Oh, a million to LSU is nothing", a million is a ton any way one looks at it

Man, it's really as if you people don't read more than a sentence or two of a post before you go click crazy and hit respond(right after you copy the one or two sentences you read). I said, i'll pay my dues soon enough, as my family does for four season tickets in the south endzone. Maybe they were just raised a little bit more passionately then yall, maybe the south endzone(middle to upper-middle class) was raised more passionately but leaving the game is so piss poor and fair-weather(minus extenuating circumstances). Do you leave a boxing match before it's over? Or a basketball game? or any other sporting event? NO! because the damn game hasn't been won and you paid to see that clock tick to zero, and paid for no one else but you exclusively to have that seat.

Now that i've ranted on that...I left a game early once, on September 26th, 1998 in a 53-20 route of Idaho in the pouring down rain at the age of 8 years old. Have I ever left since? nope. I display a passion for LSU football and i'd like everyone to have at least a chance to experience what i experience and that goes for freshmen too. That goes for every student, and guess what, alumni had the chance from the beginning until 2003. Maybe I got screwed because i'm a youngin' and life is just supposed to suck for me as bad as it sucks for you oh so sad middle-aged men and older but you had your chance to go for four years to every home game, why shouldn't every student have one now? If i recall, LSU was called Death Valley a long time ago and was always feared by opponents going as far back(possibly further)as "Bear" Bryant and that nostalgia was brought about by the students. Make tickets open to every damn student. If they dont all sell, then open the tickets for you rich bastards who want to suck a little corporate dick for 30 mintues and change the student section size according to ticket sales.

Suck a big one, you crabby old assholes.

I understand where you are coming from. Obviously LSU will make more money if they charge more for those seats. I just don't think that our football program will suffer too much in the long run with that loss of ticket revenue. Tiger Stadium would be undeniably more intimidating and electric.

I just think that it's a shame that a Freshman who walks on LSU's campus every day during the week can't join their upperclassman and watch their peers play football for THEIR school.
