Lsu had great coverage of baseball. We will only go down from here.

Any games produced by the schools will have an outlet, either the SEC Network or its digital extensions, where fans can watch.
So it sounds like LSU can get their games out any time they want.

I'm assuming digital extensions is in reference to vendors like Neulion which makes GeauxZone, HailStateTV, RebelVision, etc. However, I was under the impression that these services will cease to exist when the SEC Network takes over.

I thought most of those were hosted by COS sports?

Neulion does GZ and HailStateTV. I'm not sure about RebelVision though.

I know rebel vision and vandy's are CBS.

Digital extensions means the SEC Network will have something similar to Watch ESPN. If LSU still produces baseball broadcasts like Geauxzone (and there's no reason they won't) they will be available there.

I could have sworn it was known that once SECNetwork stepped in, GeauxZone won't be available anymore. SECNetwork will have the exclusive right to air those games whether they choose to or not.

Geauxzone won't exist anymore. LSU can't charge you money for audio/video they produce. But anything they do produce will have a digital outlet somewhere. They are not cutting back anything.

I am all for it. CST was terrible. Nothing against big ronni and pumper.

Let me know if I'm getting what you're describing:
You're saying they will still be able to show digital media in the form of like highlights? But the days of being able to watch live baseball games, for instance, are gone when SECN chooses not to cover one (say, a Wednesday game at home against Northwestern State).

I think it'll get more fans in the seats, but I can see people begging for Ronnie, Lynn, and the CST crew back when they just want to watch the Sunday afternoon game after church from their sofa but can't because SECNetwerk.

My understanding as well. Unless I totally don't understand the SEC Network deal, there is no more Geaux Zone type broadcasts. Also, the Cox rebroadcasts of football games on Sunday night are gone. The SEC Network controls all SEC sports media broadcasts.
The reasoning was that as the SEC "footprint" will cover up to 1/3 of the country, the annual revenue produced would by as much as $ 1 billion to be split among the schools.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

No not at all. LSU currently produces the video for the Geauxzone broadcasts. Most other schools do this as well through whatever they call their service. As long as the schools continue to do this it will be available through the SEC Networks digital platform. GZ doesn't just do live games. There are the audio broadcasts, press conferences, coaches shows etc. All that content won't simply go away.

The stupid is strong in this thread. First, before jumping off the cliff, go to the SEC Network FAQ & see what's really in store - it's real plain & spelled out nicely. Then, if you still feel the need to blindly fret, whine & bitch be sure to come back this time next year & tell the rest of us how much you hate it & wish you could reverse the clock to better days. I strongly suspect that it will prove hugely popular with an overwhelming majority of fans. I, for one, am counting the days until it kicks off.

That's a whole lot of words just to call people stupid to make yourself feel superior. How about you just tell us if we can watch much baseball as we have in years past.

I would be willing to say that every LSU home game will be either on TV or online next year. And when LSU goes to play Miss State, instead of having to pay for State's own version of Geauxzone, you would be able to watch it the same way you watch LSU home games.

In this example if the SECN did not pick the game up to show on TV they will show it online...assuming LSU produces and provides them video.
Geauxzone will be gone in the sense you won't be paying LSU to watch games online. You will just be paying for the SEC Network to watch it online (if they didn't pick it for TV).

My understanding is that yes, you will not miss much baseball as long as the university is broadcasting the games like they normally do, ESPN will offer a platform for said media

I agree. We're going to have access to more games than we do today, but maybe not as many on TV.
But hearing Rantz talk last night they're still going to have the ability to show road non conference games and they'll have the Pontiff game for sure. They will be able to show a game at Southeastern or Tulane. Maybe they will even go to Houston to show the games when we play in the classic.

That's good to hear I was wondering about that. But technically the SEC would have no control over the right to those games. That would go to the Southland or whatever conference the home team is a part of.
