re: To all short-sighted individuals who want to get rid of Les Miles

Most of Les’s problem with fans is that he not Saban. I can promise you this though, Saban’s not available.
Dude, I can honestly answer you with this: I don't give a flying frick about Saban.
What I have seen on the field the past two years, with yesterday's culmination, is this: when you take into account the amount of available talent, this is the absolute worst coaching job I have ever witnessed on any level, be it Pop Warner, junior high, high school, college, professional. Bar none.
Two gumps told me yesterday: I always root for LSU...because I am truly afraid of how good they could be with all that ability if they actually had a coach with an IQ above room temperature. So geaux Les Miles!
I don't want Saban. I just want a good coach.

Is there a competent coach out there that would come to LSU under those circumstances? The national media would eat us up and make us the laughing stock of college football.
Ummm do you watch ESPN or read any national articles about LSU? We ARE the laughing stock of college football and it's because of our coach.

Most of Miles success has come with sabans people once they graduated or left (2007)the team went down.
You are the only person supporting Miles.

How about it will cost over 10 million dollars to buy out his contract and what kind of message does it send that we would dump a 5-0 record coach in the middle of the season. Is there a competent coach out there that would come to LSU under those circumstances? The national media would eat us up and make us the laughing stock of college football. We need to sit back and wait to see what the CEO of our football team does at the end of the season. Now is not the time to be calling for a mutiny.
Thanks. If he doesn't get rid of Crowton and fails at continuous improvement on offense, then he has failed completely.

I have defended Miles in the past. I've tried to rationalize different things. Funny YOU bring up Saban. Last night crystallizes the differences. That LSU game last night was a typical Les Miles football game: undisciplined, poor execution, very very very poor coaching. A very bad middling SEC team came into Tiger Stadium yesterday and flat ran over us.
Compare that to the coaching clinic in Tuscaloosa. I don't say I want Saban back, but I do want Saban ball back: first, DISCIPLINE, second, ACCOUNTABILITY, third, coaching to help the players succeed, and fourth, efficient effective football.
How you can look at yesterday's game and say "we're a team on the rise" with a straight face is a mystery to me. We have as much talent (with the exception of QB) as that team in Tuscaloosa; can you honestly say that yesterday's game reflected that? I can no longer defend something that is no longer worth defending.

Then, the Chief’s defense becomes so dominant that it makes the offense look pathetic
Crowton should have been gone last year, now they should both be gone

This tells me that if you can fog a mirror you can win at Lsu.

Your post was too long, but I take it that you were making a list of the good things LM has done since arriving at LSU.
Actually, my point was that the majority of fans supported him when marginal (read gutsy) calls went his way, without the vision to understand that gutsy calls are necessary and don't always go your way.

Other than the obvious shortocmings in the two minute drill that are unacceptable for any coach at this level, the to biggest mistakes LM has made were the Malaveto debacle and not firing Crowton at the end of last year.
Agreed, I just think he'll get his head out of his rear w/GC. The clock is unexcusable, but the good outweighs the bad.

I was pretty indifferent when we hired him. I was willing to put the problem of 2005 and 2006 behind and move on. I accepted the reasons and explanations and circumstances of those two seasons. The in 2007, I was a Miles Maniac. I didn't care about the inconsistent play, his quirkiness, and his style. I bought into "Lesticles" and "The Mad Hatter". His Saturday morning press conference was amazing. I dismissed just about all criticism of Les by pointing at the crystal football.
Thanks for your honesty, I felt the same.

I'm guessing you're one of those people whom, if you had your way, we'd still have Smoke Laval as our head baseball coach.

You are correct change is not always good change. He has won. He is winning. Texas is not. USC is not. Georgia is not. All power houses none of them winning. Our down years are other teams pretty good years. He is a winner. Very simple. Winners find ways to win. Winners do not have to justify how they won... ugly, pretty, lucky... they just win. We are 5-0 with a winnable UF game this week. I like our Damn Strong Football Team!

Well said. We're 5 - 0 and I don't care how we got there and ninth ranked. Let the season play out and see what happens. We are one player away from greatness. As for Crowton wasn't there some talk last year that LSU wouldn't let Miles fire him because of the buy out?

Your comment meets the definition of SHORT SIGHTED, we're good right now, so we don't need to change anything. Being short-sighted is failing to realize what is best for the long run, your 5-0 comments shows a complete lack of foresight.

What would you be saying if we had lost to that very bad SEC team, over HALF of whom had never even played in an SEC road game, as we probably should have?
