Brando's irrelevant...thing is he thinks he's relevant.
Most shameless name dropper I've ever seen and always seems condescending to me, especially on the radio shows he's hosted over the years.

I can say LSU basketball is comparable to the saints it may start out great and look promising, but we all know in the end they are going to falter. I think a program that wins consistently and shows up in big games in a primetime setting will draw more crowds. I don't get the racist thing, and i'm black. Throwing the racist word out there when it is not justified only cheapens it.

I agree with that partly. THe problem is and it is partly LSU's creation is that besides Football they have been sort of slack on their marketing potential of other sports besides football outside the Baton Rouge/Lafayette Region.
It seesm LSU paln is to do more GEAUX ZONE stuff and it is becoming harder to find LSU non football stuff on the radio or TV than it used to be.
Add to that that most people get their news from Ganeett Newspapers that keep laying off people and it creates more of a problem

Wow...just lost a lot of respect for Brando...

case you don't know it...Tim Brando is a Shock Jock...He will say anything to get a reaction. He used to have a local radio show several years ago in Shreveport where he was very anti LSU. Recently while he has been at CBS he has tried to give LSU a few props like he is a big fan or something...I personally can't stand him...

a) as you said, nobody had started a thread on this...you just gave Brando's comments lots more "exposure" than they would have otherwise have had.
b) who cares what he says?

Whether he said it or not, can't stand Brando the Frickin' Clown. Wish that prick would disappear faster than a pizza at a weight watchers convention

I couldn't stand Brando well before this comment. As soon as Cowherd's show goes off at 12PM, Brando's comes on and my radio goes off. That guy is retarded.

Hes right on. Why do you think all the rednecks down here love baseball. Cuz the team is white, lolz.

Sound like Brando is racist. Not us.

Tim is correct. I hear the N word at least once every time I go to a LSU watch party here in Tampa Bay. Makes me sick to hear it so I stopped going.
I hear the N word everywhere I go, even from black people even though its the version of the N word that ends in an A and not an ER (its still the same damn word and its wrong any way you slice it no matter who says it). I bet if you went to a historically black college football watch party you would hear the "N" word. It aint just LSU fans, its all over the place.

You'd better be joking, and if you are, you had better come up with a better way of expressing your sense of humor.

Won't matter what I say I am sure. I have known Tim Brando since we were kids. He lived on MY street and I ruled the pick-up sports games. I don't live far from his mom and I like to visit with her - nice, cool lady. Tim is, God forbid, a media type and will occasionally throw out that piece that makes the crowd go wild. He is so much NOT a racist and he is so much NOT one to even imply that the "card" has been thrown. Listen to him, enjoy his insight and live with your own self-imposed burdens regarding race. It just dawned on me that we have at least one boy whose skin may have been bleached on our hoops team. Prior to that I was pretty proud of what has been accomplished by the ones left in the oven a bit long. Good Grief! Can we get past this type of thing? If not, turn in your membership that enables you to watch sports.

So your saying black people are burnt??

brando is just trying to get back on the air in BR so he decided to use some of Condon's tactics.

I am not sure how mch exposure Brando gets in Louisiana. I know he is heard in parts of North Louisiana and it appears Lake Charles
I am not so much concerned about giving Brando exposure on TD or not.
I am much more concerned to what I guess is a nation wide audience of some size and as one of the main CBS SPorts dudes he seems to be implying that the problem with LSU Basketball and their fans are because white folks have a problem watching black folks plays sports.
I find that insulting on many levels and not just as a LSU fan. He is feeding a sterotype. I am not one to get offended at SPorts radio people and I know they throw red meat but I thought this was a tad over the line and it is a shame that now people in other states have just another reason to think we believe it 's 1875
Posted on 2/12/09 at 9:25 pm to bayourant
i think we return the favor and everyone bring a sign to the next CBS televised game saying Brando is Racist
Posted on 2/12/09 at 9:25 pm to LA007
I think my post was pretty clear. Lsu fans are for the most part racist. The reason hicks down here don't like b-ball is because it is associated with blacks. I think Brando was stating the obvious.
