Did LSU go into the BCSCG as #1 or #2?

Also they shouldn't get in above an undefeated Stanford or OSU to play a team they already lost to while these other 2 have not had that opportunity.

Well, they won't. The question will be - will Bama go ahead of an undefeated Boise (A: yes) - or a 1-loss Pac-12 or Big-12 Champ (A: )

Thats because they're not better than Bama. But, Bama had their chance, at their place, and didn't get it done. Too bad, so sad for Bama. the goal of the BCS isnt to make sure everyone gets a fair chance, it's to put #1 vs #2

Yes, 1 and 2, but half the time with the BCS, that is very subjective. The human voters might take fairness into consideration on their last ballots, depending on who wins and loses from here on out.

I agree.

quote:

If Stanford, Ok State, and Bama all have one loss, what do we know? That one of those teams (Bama) has already played LSU, at home, and didn't get it done. You have to now give Stanford or Ok State the opportunity.

Besides, if Bama beats us, what does that prove? The series will be 1-1.

Correct.

BTW, anyone who says they favor a playoff system should NOT want a rematch. We've had a "playoff" game in November and Alabama lost on their home field. Alabama had its chance.

A BCS championship game between LSU and a team from another conference is a much more interesting proposition. In my opinion, an unbeaten Stanford - LSU game would be great for the fans and would be more meaningful than an LSU - Alabama rematch.

It's the voters responsibility to make sure the computers do not mishandle the match up. Which would come into play during a potential rematch.

Yes, you are saying 1 loss Bama playing LSU again is like LSU playing OHio State and not Kansas playing in that game. Well here is the difference... LSU was A great team and had not played OSU. Bama is great team but has already lost to LSU. That is the key difference, so you have to defer to an undefeated OSU or Stanford.

As a huge Bama fan I agree 100%. We had our chance and didnt get it done. For me its that simple

With bama it doesn't matter how many times we beat them, they were always the better team that gave the game away.

yes if either or both are undefeated then yes they should/will probably go over Bama.

But we are a Oregon and OU victory from all that being a moot point. Not exactly huge leaps to imagine.

If we are talking 1 loss teams that is much more likely to result in a situation where voters say Bama is the #2 team

I dont WANT a rematch, LSU matches up much better with Boise/Stanford/OSU.

The goal of the BCS though is to put the best 2 teams in the BCSCG. Even today, with 1 loss, I have a hard time saying OSU/Boise/Stanford are better teams than Bama

Personally, I would prefer to play Memphis in the NC game, but if the game is supposed to match the top two teams, then it shouldn't matter if they've already played, if they're in the same conference or division, etc.

I agree. It places an undue burden on LSU to have to beat them again. Since these teams are pretty evenly matched, it is that much more of a penalty to make game 1 in effect worthless and bring on a rematch where winner takes all. Bama is probably better than the 1 loss teams, but since they proved they couldn't get it done in a home night game when both teams had time to prepare, I think they proved they don't deserve a shot at a national championship. Stanford/OSU might not have proven they can hang with us, but Bama proved they couldn't beat us in the most favorable situation there could be for them. Gotta give the benefit of a doubt to the team that hasn't been given the opportunity to prove itself over the team that proved it couldn't get it done.

Think about how worthless that classic game becomes if there are no consequences for Bama...

technically the voters responsibility is the same as the computers. To rank the teams from #1-#25. Voters have the ability though to consiscously change their vote to get the outcome/matchup they desire

I totally agree with your analogy. Do some of our fans realize how hard it is to beat the same team twice in one season in FOOTBALL. It was a boring game because it was two amazing defenses with mediocre offense out of both Saturday Night. I was there and there was little emotion except for first downs by BAMA or runs by TR. I would rather see us play a team not beaten with a good QB and offense and give them their platform to prove if they are as good as the SEC teams..

I want another shot but it's because we lost. If I were LSU I would feel like we already proved what we had to against Bama.

NO Bama and No Oregon. We already beat them once. Bring on somebody who we have not beaten and let's do this right.

Bama doesn't deserve a rematch in The national championship. So Bama wins the rematch what does that prove? We each beat each other once but their Champions. You see how this would be totally unfair to LSU. We beat them on their home turf, thank you, and goodnight gumpers.
