That was my point. Nothing is unique. Even if it's unique to your "area", it's still beat to death elsewhere so the point is worthless.

Actually, in our case, it is. The animal mascot is one thing but our name, "Fighting Tigers", is very much a part of Louisiana.

Ehh...some names are easily more "particular" to a certain school or region than others.

Ex:
Colorado Buffaloes
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Oklahoma Sooners
Florida Gators
University Louisiana-Lafayette Rajun Cajuns

Sure, other high schools, universities, or professional teams may have these names (not sure about the Rajun Cajun one), but it makes sense to the university/region. I'm sure there are other Buffaloes out there, but when I hear it I think of Colorado. Same with Huskers. When I hear the name Huskers, I think of the University of Nebraska, not freaking Hickory High and its famous picket basketball plays.

I will be very glad when they are done so we can move on to threads about the next stadium upgrade and why it is a travesty to use public funds for those purposes during tough financial times.
