There should be an official LSU policy that there is NO SITTING in the LSU student section unless during timeouts. This is good for the casual fans who wait for something good to happen to cheer, but this will have no effect on us students.

You need to grow out of your 'terrible two' stage.

I say to you - SIT YOUR arse DOWN - other people bought tickets to see the game too. You and your arrogant street attitude can just go to hell - SIT YOUR arse DOWN you arse clown.

If you don't like it - go to the top of the stadium and stand up all game long - kiss my arse.

I don't care either way if people want to stand the entire game but my young daughter has problems seeing over people twice her height. If you want to stand up at least have the common courtesy to check the people behind you. If there are young children that want to enjoy the game don't be a douche and take the entire enjoyment of a LSU football game away from them. At least try and be courteous and let them enjoy some of the game as well. These kids are the future of LSU football.
I think this rule is geared towards the people that show total disregard for fellow fans.

The people that sit behind me bring their two very young children to games with them instead of getting maw maw or a babysitter to watch them. The two kids couldn't be any less interested in being at an LSU football game, so they're all over the place - kicking us in the back, hanging all over us, putting their feet on the seats so that when we sit down we're always sitting on somebody's foot, etc. And despite the dirty looks and a few times of turning around and asking the dad to stop the kicking, it continues.

As long as that happens to me, I will continue to be an arse right back and just stand up, regardless of what is going on in the game.

Don't know if this happens in Tiger Stadium or not but several years ago I was living in Shreveport and went to see the "I" Bowl when LSU was playing Michigan St. We had bottom row endzone seats and on that lvl they parked all the handicapped directly in front of us so we were unable to see the game. We had no problem with this but we had to stand to be able to see at all. We were bitched at for 3 quarters until we finally exchanged words with man 3 rows up. Was kinda funny when he dove from 3rd row and missed everyone but the concrete. He was kicked a few times before security showed up and we got kicked out. Thought it was bullshite. If you block the view of the lower seating it is gonna cause a chain reaction of people standing, (and people bitching) and may end up with more situations like this.

I think if somebody wants to stand, let 'em. Especially if they are excited about the game. If they are chatting up their neighbor, then sit the hell down.

Guys, I've been to a lot of games at Tiger Stadium, and a lot of games at DKR-Memorial stadium at Texas, and I can't think of anything worse than having Tiger Stadium fans slide down to the level of apathy of Texas fans. Standing up energizes the crowd, and that's part of what makes Tiger Stadium a great place to watch a game.

What if we think the entire game is a "significant event"?
Apparently that growing contingent of fans who actively despise those who consider every play in Tiger Stadium a "big play" have gained the control of (or at least consensus of) the athletic department. I don't know how old this "policy" is, but it flat out sucks bigtime.

Why? Home is where the comfortable chairs are for the people who want to sit . . . oh, wait, that's right. This isn't about people who want to sit enjoying the game, this is just about people like you trying to boss other people around and make sure they are as miserable as you are. Good for you.

I think it should be required that you stand in certain situations. I had a guy glare at me when I was standing up during all of the 4th down conversions against Florida. What a dumbass. I also hate it when people glare at you for standing and yelling on huge 3rd downs (and 4th downs) on defense.

You mean that you aren't in favor of complete social conformity at American football games, where cheering is only done at "common sense" times of "choreographed spontaneous applause"? You actually believe in that "cowboy capitalism" that says that an individual ticket-holder can actually have the freedom to stand up within the space he purchased based on his own judgment? You don't think every fan in the stadium should put all of his own wants before the greater good of the people?

I hereby declare you an enemy of good socialist morals. You will be sent to a reeducation camp, and taught the necessity to express only that which is acceptable to the "common man," which of course is defined by whoever happens to have the most power at the moment.

You are part of the "old" LSU that we are trying to get rid of, filled with irresponsible and selfish stereotypes on boorish, rude behavior, drinking, and all-night partying. People like you must be eliminated to make way for the "new" LSU, the LSU which best represents the great people of the state of Louisiana, who are hardworking, and never cuss or act boisterous.

If you write out a signed admission of guilt, we may consider giving you a ticket to the "People's Football Game," but otherwise, keep your individualism to yourself or be prepared to be taken away by the marshals.

Signed,
Mao

There is a happy balance to all of this. Most people follow the rule of standing when the atmosphere and excitement of the game dictate. There are those people that will never stand and bitch about everything, including standing for the Star Spangled Banner, the formerly know as prayers "moment of silence" and the Alma Mater as well as the rest of Pre-Game. Those people, along with the ones that do not remove their hats/caps during the playing the Star Spangled Banner, should be removed from the stadium as well.

Anyone who stands all game, except for those in the student section, is an inconsiderate arse-clown. The rule isn't a bad one and is trying to address both negative ends of the spectrum. 1) The fan who complains when people are standing during big plays, 2) the previously mentioned arse-clown who still thinks he is in college/highschool and needs to stand for every play. Alcohol usually has something to do with the ones who are arse-clowns. Those people need to grow the f up.

And as a previous person said, if you weren't standing during all those 4th downs against Florida, then maybe you do need to stay home and watch in on the lazyboy. With all the exciting games we had last year, there were numerous occasions where the majority of the people in the stadium were standing. If you weren't one of them, why are you there in the first place?

can't they have designated "standing encouraged" sections to accommodate everybody? I know people have been getting the same seats forever and they like their comfort zones, but I'm sure that there could be a one time seat switching for those people's sections who were affected to provide they can get a corresponding seat somewhere else in the stadium if their section became a "standing encouraged" section.

I just think this would be especially ideal for those former students (or just rowdy bastards) aged 25-40 who have the energy to sand up for 3-4 hours. Plus it would make Tiger Stadium louder because people in those sections would make even more noise if EVERYBODY around them was as well.

I'm just a student, not a season ticket holder, but I think that this is a possible solution that could make everybody happy. and yes I know this would be a huge one time pain in the arse for the ticket office. Seems like it would be a good idea to get out in front of the problem before it makes people not want to renew their tickets!

just an idea...feel free to hate

I think it is great idea. I get excited and stand a lot, but some peopple just remain standing. We all need to stretch our legs when it is a slow game, but we all pay the same to get in and we should be allowed to see.

This rule is the most ridiculous and unenforcable thing I've ever heard. The only way it works if you can get the entire stadium to sit and that is not going to happen.

A couple years ago at the Oregon State game, this fricking prick was there with his 10ish year old son (upper east). Every person from me down to the edge of the section was standing. So this prick taps me on the shoulder and asks me to sit so his son can see. I look at him like he's crazy, and say "Im sorry, but cant you see everyone in the section is standing? If I sit, I can't see." I did try to create a line of sight for his son by sliding over, but thats the best I can do. This motherfricker continued to pester me the entire game, until eventually he got a cop. The cop walks over, and I tell him "look at the entire section, what the hell am I supposed to do?" The cop agree and told the guy he was sorry, there was nothing he could do.

And thats the way it is in Tiger stadium, and thats the way it should be in Tiger stadium. We don't sit. We stand.

Everyone knows you stand in Tiger stadium. So when you buy a ticket you know what you are getting in to. So I guess you guys go to rock concerts, buy tickets in the pit and expect everyone to stand still with their arms down and be quiet because you paid for a ticket and you want to see as clearly as possible and hear only the band?

My personal sentiment is frick the seats! They're too confining anyway. I think they should trash them all. However, since there are seats we should all try to be accommodating to those around us, within reason!

If you don't want to stand when I'm trying to get my D psyched for the big third down, or if I'm making too much noise for your tender little fancy ears, then too bad. Move!

Oh yeah, and if you want to bring your kids, great-grandma, pet lizard - whatever - to the game, well then they should get accustomed to how things should be done.

Tiger Stadium is but a mere shadow of its former self. Bear Bryant would say, " it's like playing in a nursing home" if he were here now.

Sad.

I am sure there are inconsiderate people out there who give Tiger fans a bad name. It is for these people who don't consider there may be people that can't stand the entire game, of even for prolonged times. After all, that is why they are called inconsiderate. For this reason, we have rules and laws. After all, if it weren't for a$$ holes, we would not need so many rules and laws.

So for you inconsiderate ones, there are game marshals, who I am told will have you leave the game if you do not comply. I am sure you are also upset that you can't throw your drinks on people in front of you and smoke. After all, you paid a lot of money for that ticket, and in your twisted way of thinking, you are entitled to do whatever you please. it is for people such as you we just have to force you to act civilized with our rules and laws. Tiger Stadium will be better off, believe me, if you stayed away. You give Tiger fans a bad name.

BTW Houston fan, I doubt you attend the games. If you do, please stop. Go to aTm, I hear they love to stand.
