Am I the only one that loves Sammy's Grill here lol? I'd highly recommend going to Sammys on Highland. Terrific food and the atmosphere on game day has never disappointed. For real thanks for coming down to the game. Hope you have a great time and Geaux Tigers!

For Gameday, I would definitely make a pass by the Parade Grounds on campus.. This is where most college-aged groups tailgate. As for where you should tailgate yourself, just be friendly as almost ANY tailgate will let you hang out for the day.

Make sure you arrive SUPER early though, most of us get there around 7AM (even on an 8PM kickoff).

What to do on Friday?: Good food spots, cool bars to go to, must-see's on campus?

I wouldn't worry about doing anything on campus friday night.

Dinner Friday:

Fancy:

Juban's: this is sort of the gold standard in BR. It is pretty damn good french/creole.

galatoires: Old New Orleans restaurant that reopened in Baton Rouge again. It isn't the original but it is still very good. Close to the bulldog and overpass bars

beausoleil: a little more a of a neighborhoody vibe but i really like this place. Never had a bad meal

Mansur's: great steaks. Can't go wrong

Strobe's: Downtown. Went there on Friday and my meal was better than expected. Very underrated

Those four are awesome and you will be happy.

Other opitions

The Merchant: Newer place, nice and has good. Solid beer selection.

George's: just a simple poboy and a beer type of meal. Cannot go wrong

Red Zepplin: decent to good pizza and a good beer list.

Chimes: on campus, good food and great beer list. Start your saturday here with a boudin omelet and a breakfast stout.

As for tailgating. I'd grab a six pack or so and walk around. Ask a guy what he is making and you will get some. For example, I was walking past a tailgate Saturday and eye-fricked a pot jambalaya. Didn't say anything but the cook still told me to grab a bowl because he saw me staring. It was fantastic Jambalaya too.

Pretty cool tradition. What others have you been to?
Ive done Army/Navy, Bama/AU, OSU/Mich, Red Sox Yankees. Would love to make it an annual thing one day like you are doing.

This seems to be a theme. We plan to be there early morning. After the Ole Miss win, it seems that this game and atmosphere is going to be incredible. We are really looking forward to the tailgate scene. LSU has a reputation for tailgating even where we live. We can't thank you all enough for the continued replies.

You list is more impressive than ours! We have been to a World Series game, then switched to college football...Miami/FSU, Auburn/Georgia, and last year we went to Arkansas/Alabama....that was a last minute deal, and not a rivalry, but it was the best game that fit in our schedule.

Alabama at LSU has been the one we circled since we started this trip. I was just talking yesterday about the number of responses we have received to our post. I never thought I'd see that many! Seems to be a pretty good indication that this will be the best trip we have made yet!

Go to the Better Than Ezra concert Friday night before the game at Walk-Ons....always fun to hear them before big games.

Funny thing is he probably hears that everywhere, but just wait until he reports back! :-)

We do, but quite honestly, this already has a different feel to it. Especially with how well LSU has played lately and the Alabama coming in with a win streak that will be fun to watch get broken! We will report back for sure!
