lets imagine the year is 2024 and there is a 12-team playoff we could still realistically make it too.
what needs to happen around the country with us winning out for us to jump to 12-11 by then end of the season?

10 Penn State (8-1)
11 Louisville (8-1)
12 Oregon State (7-2)
13 Tennessee (7-2)
14 Missouri (7-2)
15 Oklahoma State (7-2)
16 Kansas (7-2)
17 Oklahoma (7-2)
18 Utah (7-2)
(Oh BTW these are the same teams you need to root against for a 9-3 LSU team to make a NY6 bowl THIS year, which is absolutely a possibility if you look at the above team’s rest of schedule)

Nothing. We are 1-3 vs ranked opponents. We are eliminated at this point if they had a 20 team playoff

Well that’s just…. Wrong
We’re currently 19 and have a very good chance of getting to to 10-15 by year’s end if we win out.
I like the OP’s hypothetical…. It’s a good one… One that we will ALL be looking at next year and beyond.
He’s basically saying… if the 12team playoff was in effect this year, what do we need to happen to get there?

(I get that you’re talking playoffs in the future, but same holds for NY6 THIS year)
Recommendation thread title change if you want more responses: “how do we get into the top12?” (Because making a 12team playoff and making the NY6 are essentially the same thing)
