This whole day has 100% proven that Alleva was the problem

F king may not be great but it’s because he was trying to fill a void it that was caused by Allevas incompetence. Within 24 hours we have had an athletic director get fired and a new one hired without any back-and-forth in the press without any drama and a massive upgrade at that

ETA to be clear I am not looking to retain F king.

That’s what I’ve been saying. With a strong AD, Alexander isn’t even in the picture.

By stepping all over Alleva, Alexander probably thought he was doing what he had to do, right or wrong. Not gonna be the case with Scotty

Alleva tried to fire Miles and bring in Jimbo in 2015. King shut it down because he didn't want to give the impression of spending "too much" on football while the university incurred budget cuts.

King Alexander needs to be gone immediately. Fortunately, I doubt Woodward would be coming here to work under King.

King shut it down because Alleva failed to contain the public relations. Unlike Georgia (who made a clear statement about richt) our athletic department made no official statement but had a ton of leaks over the course of a month and a half and thus got justly blasted for how we were treating miles. THAT was the first and most egregious error

Alleva didn’t have the clout to overcome a meddling incompetent president.

Did f king cause him to bungle the original Miles firing? Did he cause Alleva to impetuously hire o the second go round? Did he caused the rash of unwarranted extensions that have been given out to our coaches?

Allevas weakness created a power void that allowed f king to fester.

100% he did. Which is a major reason F King needs to go.

Well I will agree with you there. He was a weak AD that either let public sentiment influence his decision-making, or let less qualified people come in and do his job for him.

If you look at this dispassionately, it looks to me like everytime Alexander stepped in it was because the AD was loosing control of the narrative and the wide public perception was turning against LSU. IMO, that was Joes biggest failure, his inability to control and direct public perception via the press. That's a major part of his job and he was horrible at it.

My direct experiences with Alexander have been positive as a parent of 1, and soon to be 2, LSU students. In a room full of parents of students and prospective students, he sells the university and in large part he sells the uniqueness of Saturday night football experience as part of that.

I don't love all of his policies but the seem pretty reflective of the bulk of the college world.

But I wouldn't be heartbroken if he were replaced with a more accomplished (and more conservative) person.

The results are secondary to the process. Zero leadership was being displayed and LSU was getting blasted publically because Alleva showed no direction and failed yet again at public relations m. This causes an unqualified f king to step in. If he contains the situation and demonstrates competence then everything proceeds
