Every year the same thing. Pitchers highly touted, but they get in games and can't throw strikes to get ahead of hitters, walk 9th batters and hit others. Every year I ask the same question, how do these guys get college schollies, and now NIL, when they can't throw strikes? Did they throw strikes in HS? and now for some reason....amped up is not an excuse.....they can't throw the ball over the plate. Infuritating.

Schmidt was amped up. That was the biggest spot he ever pitched in his life.

I mean was it though? Had a comfortable lead against a pretty bad Missouri team.
Maybe he was a bit nervous, but JJ wasn’t asking for much out of him there

Eta: if that gave him jitters, my cheeks will be clenched when he gets the ball next weekend

First coach Jay has had here that wasn’t poached for a HC job. Maybe that says something

How could you possibly think that the pitching has lived up to expectation thus far?

Yeah, getting a top mlb prospect like Schmidt on campus was a huge mistake on JJ’s part. What a terrible evaluator of talent. Some of y’all are truly fricking idiots.

Whether or not you like him, this is categorically false.

I don’t know what’s worse, your original sentence or the fact that you’re using TAMU/Their fan base to make a point.

Pitching in college is not like pitching in high school.

The zone is tighter and it’s hard to just blow past a batter.

In college if you just “throw strikes” you will get crushed so pitchers try to pitch to spots on the edge of the zone and with a tighter zone in college sometimes they miss
