It gets tiresome trying to tell some of these jokers who NEVER seen UNC play at all they actually have a good D.
I read many posts on here how NC St. dominated UNC D last year when it wasn't the case at all. Not close.
UNC suffered from QB inconsistency issues mostly due to a SECOND TEAM O-line starting due to injuries and quitters. It's documented how they struggled on the O-line.
I saw them play the last 2 years due to living in ACC country and I think they are one of the most talented teams in the conference, but they lack discipline and injuries have hurt them badly.
Their QB is actually better than what LSU has despite his own strange decisions at times.
BUT, all the pro-UNC talk is great for LSU...more motivated team is the result. Have to like that.

I live in NC and their Qb play is definitely not better than LSU's. TJ's best games came against the worst defenses and NC State made big play after big play on that defense as did FSU.

FSU did school them.
NC ST. did not and it wasn't close to being a "bad" defensive performance.
TJ is better than T.J. any day especially with a second-team o-line in front of him.
I lived in Raleigh btw.

Here is some hype to chew on
"Of note to LSU is the number of North Carolina defenders on Steele's All American preseason first team. End Robert Quinn, tackle Marvin Austin and linebacker Bruce Carter were three of the 12 players Steele picked for his first-team defense. Linebacker Quan Sturdivant made the second team."

I will say TJ showed flashes but so did JJ and the State game wasn't as bad as I made it seem, I'm just tired of everyone acting like UNC is unbeatable and their defense is an immovable object.
I live in Charlotte.

Charlotte! Cool.
I like all the UNC hype. It helps motivate the Tigers. I can just imagine all the coaches using the UNC hype...pure awesomeness imo.

Your sentence make no sense.
If you are talking abot recruitng here is how the 2009 Class was ranked:
LSU #1 ESPN
LSU #2 Rivals
LSU #3 Scout
LSU did get the #1 ranked class from most of the other polls as well.
Scout.com out to lunch as usual, the only place I remember that ranked Ohio State's 2009 recruiting class #1: (Take note of "Top 100" players signed)

I understand why all the ESPN guys are hyping this game and they know that everyone else will just repeat what they say. UNC could make a legitimate run for the ACC conference title this year, but they are still not better than LSU. It will take a major meltdown for LSU to lose with all of the talent we have on both sides of the ball. They do have some future NFL draftees, but they do not have enough depth.

FWIW ... here are the projected starters for UNC on Defense along with their Scout rating out of high school:
Quinton Coples - 4 star - 6-6, 245
Marvin Austin - 5 star - 6-3, 305
Tydreke Powell - 4 star - 6-3, 310
Robert Quinn - 4 star - 6-5, 260
Zach Brown - 4 star - 6-2, 220
Quan Sturdivant - 4 star - 6-2, 230
Bruce Carter - 3 star - 6-3, 235
Deunta Williams - 4 star - 6-2, 205
Da'Norris Searcy - 4 star, 6-0, 200
Charles Brown - 2 star - 5-10, 190
Kendric Burney - 3star - 5-9, 180
I would say that on paper, their front 7 could be as talented as anyone LSU will play this year. Their weakness will be in the secondary, particularly at Safety. The key to the game will be LSU's OL against UNC's front 7, and JJ's ability to throw to the middle of the field. Based on last year's performance, this game does not bode well for LSU. But last year is last year ... we'll see pretty quick whether Miles and Crowton have made the needed adjustments to return LSU to a national power.

What about our D against their offense?
Posted on 5/21/10 at 11:43 am to LuzianaFootball
It is a bad matchup for LSU. We are going to try to show NC that we are a dominating run team, but this plays to their strength (front 7 of their D is one of the best in the country).
NC's weakness would be their secondary, but we lack the pocket passing game to take advantage of it. We will need to rely on our speed and some trickeration to score on NC.

thank you, nice work 1984.

This will be nothing like playing VT. These guys are legit.
Uh, if I recall VT did win the ACC in '07 & played in a BCS bowl. Seems pretty legit to me.

Their secondary is not bad. It may be their weakness but it is pretty damn good. Just don't think they can score enough points to beat LSU, unless it is on turnovers.

in the ultra-bizarre, they were rated ahead of LSU the week before LSU won the SEC CG. Both were 10-2.
One of Va Tech's losses was the public de-pantsing by LSU.

Just Curious....
When was the last time any team from the ACC went out of conference and beat a team with a winning record from another BCS conference?
The last three times LSU played an ACC opponent:
LSU 40 - Miami 3 (#9 at the time)
LSU 48 - VaTech 7 (#4 at the time)
LSU 38 - GaTech 3 (#12 at the time)
North Carolina may be the best team in the ACC but until that league can prove it can win big games against other BCS conference schools I'm not a believer.
The two teams that played for the ACC championship and an automatic BCS bid lost on the last weekend of the regular season last year. Clemson lost to South Carolina and Georgia Tech lost to Georgia....teams LSU finished ahead of in the SEC.

Didn't say VT was't legit. Said UNC was nothing like VT. Totally different defense. Has the potential to be much better. Also said UNC was legit, doesn't mean VT wasnt. Sorry you misunderstood.

Actually, UNC is projected as the 3rd best team in the ACC this year, behind Va Tech and Florida St ... and this coming from the News and Observer, who loves all things in Powder Blue.
