So he outperformed Michigan by damn near 100% with probably well below half the talent.

That is impressive.

And MSU. Which is thought of as some huge defensive juggernaut...

But they don't have shite on this cat

As they should when the talent differential is that great

But they didn't do that much worse than us

We gave up 30 points. They gave up 35

We gave up 434 yards. They gave up 502

Given the difference in talent between LSU and Wisconsin defensive rosters, I'd say he's probably a better coach than Steele at least

I agree with this. That Bama game wasn't on Aranda. First game of the year, Bama is a completely different offense. That game was just talent on talent.

Wisconsin did very good considering what they had. They played very good offenses (Iowa and NW) and held them to low scores/yardage.

Aranda is a Jedi.

Hell, that LB with no stars did this in their bowl game.

this is where I dont like the star system for players, they obviously are for the measurables. Size/Speed/strength... The college game is different than the NFL in this aspect.. Intangibles.. The "Gamer" mentality... Exp. TM7... Guys that dont necessarily have the great measurables but play with a lot of heart/grit/instincts etc. The college game is built around this because of the many mistakes that are made on every play.. That young man, had instincts...He is a tough hard nose player that can be great in college but barely make special teams in the NFL because he doesnt run fast enough, cant keep up with the speed of the game..

I think it possibly takes them a few games to get comfortable. Aranda will also be facing more talented teams than he has faced the last few years. Especially the Olines. I'm excited too but want to temper the expectations for the first couple weeks of the season

We play Wisconsin, Jacksonville St., and a Dakless MSU in our first 3 games.

Also. Not many teams are more talented than Bama and USC.

Not to mention he'll have more talent too

Wiscy didn't seem to regress in his 1st year there and I hope you're wrong.
His system uses less reads than 4-3 under and supposedly simpler.
tRant would melt with a bad 1st game vs his previous employer.

In his three years in the BIG his total defense numbers per game went down every year.

'12 - 323 ypg (year before he got there)
'13 - 305 ypg (six returning starters)
'14 - 294 ypg (three returning starters)
'15 - 267 ypg (six returning starters)

His ppg had an increase in '14 when he only had three returning starters.

'12 - 19.1 ppg
'13 - 16.3 ppg
'14 - 20.8 ppg
'15 - 13.1 ppg

In '15 with a veteran "D" his ppg dropped by over a TD per game.

Can't wait to see what he can do with talent he is walking into in BR.

As everyone on here knows we lose two starters and a grand total of three that were in the rotation.
