It could be the difference between a win and a loss. It wouldn't matter this weekend much, but in two months, it would make all if the difference.

Four years ago tomorrow # 2 LSU hosted the # 1 gymnastics team in the country , the Florida Gators. The meet came down to the final performer in the last event for each team. The floor anchor for LSU needed only a 9.875 to clinch victory over the top ranked Gators. This young freshman was having a great routine and victory was all but cinched. On her third and final pass she was short on her tumble and landed seated on the floor and the Gators escaped with the win by .1.

This young gymnast was so "demoralized" by her fall that she went on to become the most decorated gymnast in LSU history and won the Gymnastics version of the Heisman trophy last year. She is back for her final season, and is recovering from an injury so she will only do three events tomorrow night.

It's amazing how gymnastics has changed over the years. It used to be Georgia and Bama. And UCLA, they were big, and I guess they're kinda back this year, but the Big 10 really isn't much of a threat to the SEC. There is no more PAC-12 so I guess the Big XII may be the only threat because of Utah?

Totally random thought, I know.

They mentioned on the gymnastics meet telecast last week that only 8 SEC schools qualify for the SEC championship yet 9 of the SEC schools are in the top 15 in the country. Five in the top ten. That SEC meet will be as tough as the NCAA's or tougher.

I get it, but if we're being honest neither the 8 or 9 seed really has much of a real chance anyway. In all honestly, it's probably just the top 4.

Current rankings don't mean much. Once they start the RQS, then you can look at the rankings. Right now, they count every score. Once the RQS starts, you look at the top 6 scores, of which 3 must be road scores, drop the highest and average the other 5. A high score at this meet helps OK more than LSU.
