What O has created

It's all about the culture Orgeron has created. It's a similar concept to what Dabo has done at Clemson. In terms of tenor and philosophy it's the "anti-Saban" approach: no grinding.
Orgeron won't make another Canada mistake. He got burned and his vetting of future coaches will be more refined. He'll hire good coaches and let them do their thing.

That’s impressive stuff to hear coming from a coach like John Robinson

I think the players endure it as long as they're winning championships. That shite must get old and wear on you over time.

While it's EASY to do so when you are winning, the biggest thing is that Ed seems to finally be in his comfort zone. When he became the interim HC he spent 3 months politicking in every way imaginable to get the permanent job. Once he got it, he spent 2017 keeping his "campaign promises" (see hiring a top notch OC). In 2018 he went back to what he was comfortable with...Ensminger as OC. A guy he knew he could trust instead of a "big name" coach he'd never worked with (Canada). He knew it wasn't a popular move, but it added to his comfort level. After 2018 he knew he had to revamp the offense, but was fortunate to have a guy he knew would not revolt, at all, to bringing in someone to essentially take over the offense (make no mistake. This is largely Brady's design even if Steve is still calling many of the plays). Brady was a young guy looking to move up the ladder. He didn't have enough clout to rock the boat. That perfectly meshed with Ensminger who was more than happy to share the burden of being OC. It was maybe the only way you could avoid a clash of egos. That's allowed O to be in his best position...figurehead and recruiter.

The behind the scenes analytics and culture shift is as much or more important than those two.

There’s plenty of recruiting figureheads that have shite programs.

Thanks for posting. I was attracted to the paragraph that described how Orgeron takes over a room with seemingly boundless energy. In "The Blind side" Michael Lewis describes Orgeron as " a human geyser of adrenaline and tester one". Succinctly stated.

Agree 100%. Orgeron got the investments he wanted and needed to catch up with Bama And he used them very very well

Fantastic article and really encouraging for the future of the program.

But Robinson won't kid himself. He knows he walked into a "damn good team," a program that had a sense of itself and where it was going.

Man that shite right there gives me an extremely warm and fuzzy feeling. The future is bright indeed.

No Alabama fan would admit it but any of them who read that article and are honest with themselves realize that Bama has a massive fork in the road dead ahead. And if they take the wrong fork by fricking up on Saban’s replacement they’re going to find themselves back at second fiddle in the west just like in the early-to-mid 2000’s.

Except for the rings and the draft. Don't let hatred cloud your unbiased judgement. If he was so bad to play for he wouldn't have the #1/2 recruiting class right now. Dummy. Marcus loves him.

Man did you even read the article before posting? It has nothing to do with this wall of babble you’ve posted here.

GTFOH!!! If you read the article how in the hell did you come to the conclusion that he’s just a figurehead? Sounds like a conclusion you’ve already come to. Read the article.

"Bama has a massive fork in the road dead ahead."

Not a fork, it's a cliff with a deep drop off. There is no way to beat the success they've enjoyed for the past decade. It's like they've eaten all of their candy and now their teeth are beginning to rot. Not a lot of smiles coming their way.

I dont see why any player would want to play for Saban. Who would you rather play for, a motivator who will treat you like his son and run through a wall for you, or a grumpy old dickhead who's going to yell and berate you

Thanks for posting. Good read and informative insight on what is going on behind the scenes. Easy to see why JB was so emotional during his speech when he talked about "his coach".

This is pure bullshite.

As for the rest of your rambling stupidity, it only demonstrating your lack of understanding and bias. The articles speaks about how Orgeron, like any successful coach, has to juggle a myriad of issues: discipline, grades, schedules, PR, egos, recruiting in addition to coaching. It speaks to the power of his personality and motivational skills.

Excellent observations from a Hall of Famer. I don't know if that could have been more complimentary.
