Why are you against paying the players? So fricking stupid. Enjoy opt outs as long as you want people to generate millions and receive none of it.
They are being paid. And it’s all tax free too, so STFU. Free education, room and board, training, coaching, etc.
As soon as you start paying collegiate athletes it’s all completely over. Then you’ll see holdouts, collective bargaining, and one and dones.
frick it. Y’all can have that. Sports is basically ruined anyway.

It’s crazy to me how you all put your interest and emotions so much into this without even caring about what’s best for the kids lol
Who are you to say kids shouldn’t be able to opt out?
I can promise you Chase did more for LSU than LSU did for him the last 2 years

It probably seems like like the risk-to-reward ratio isn't very good to some of these guys to play a short, messed up season in empty stadiums when they had the ultimate season last year and this year won't compare to that.
yeah you would have to love the game to do that

This opting out crap needs to be stopped.
Why? Pay the players.

Get used to it. The players have finally figured out they don't need to abuse their bodies to the fullest extent just to get to the NFL. College football might become more like college basketball.
Lol.
That nfl $ will be drying up soon. No one is watching their social justice product. The current players have fricked it up for the future guys.
Guess they’ll have to learn how to code.

It is not as simple as you make it sound. Who gets paid? How much? Does Joe Burrow make as much as the punter? If so what happens to the locker room at that point? Now that you are giving money to players what happens to all the other sports that do not make money? You can't spend the same dollar twice. What about the millions the athletic Dept. gives back to the University after everything is paid? Do you even know what it cost for a team like LSU to travel for a bowl game? Millions. I have read articles that showed teams get paid (say 5 million for a bowl not exact just for example) and they lose money on that 1 game.
Paying players has so many unintended consequences, it will not be what everyone thinks it will be.
It is just like saying raise taxes on business but said business will just raise their prices to compensate for the tax. So all you have done is tax the consumer.
That is why people who love college football do not want to start giving money to amateur players who are using said University to showcase their talents in order to turn Pro.

Although these may be not directly from COVID-19, the weird year differently plays a factor. This isn’t going to be a normal year, there aren’t going to be 100k at the Bama game. Combine that with the fact that there is an off chance the season doesn’t even finish, it shouldn’t be shocking. While I think we may see more of this in the future, this season shouldn’t be a true reflection of what is to come due to current circumstances.
