Yeah, i don't think i was suggesting that it would take a while because of backlog or anything else noted in this thread.

I only brought it up, because i had a class once where the guy debunked a lot of stuff that was seen on tv shows like CSI. And one of them was how fast they run DNA tests on those shows.

He basically said that a lot of it depended on how good your two samples were (are you pulling blood from something that could be mixed with dirt, etc.) and to what extent your testing procedures were. He said some labs required double verification meaning you ran it twice with separate samples.

I mean if you think about it, you've got to take a sample then process thousands upon thousands of chromosome sequences then compare that to another sequence for similarities.
