Because he was passionate, believed in his team, and and just lost to an opponent that was far more talented than his team by a long field goal.

The Les haters on this board crack me up. So his Co-DC's were a mistake...........regardless, you want to compare him to a guy who couldn't even make up his mind on what he stood far until he finally had a "realization" on his career.

I don't mind the critics hitting Les this year, it's the comparisions to Saban that I find the most amusing.

Dude did you see Saban being a meanie to his players up 31-13 in a game split screen while Miles was patting his player's butts down 31-3 to Troy? Every ranter knew at that moment that Les Miles was the man for this job. FEAR DA HAT

Dude, we wouldn't have lost a game with him at the helm...............Think about him and Jamarcus.............

Or picture Caroll with that D..........

Or picture Stoops........we would have smoked Notre Dame.........screw WV.

Les will never, ever, please the masses.........These last three years of 11 victory seasons and, of course, the national championship, were all luck, Saban's players, and Pelini...........Even mental midgets could see that.

Isn't that the truth. This team has already matched the loss total from Saban's first year, with two games remaining.

That team had major depth issues. They weren't as talented as some of the teams they played. But they believed in their coach and respected him. And they did not quit. None of that can be said about this team.

Pathetic.

It's been 3 years in the making for the "haters" to spew their verbage on Tigerdroppings...........the wanted it so bad but still it wouldn't come. Now that "the wheels have fallen off" let it flow.

No, being unranked right now with at the very least top 10 talent is just bad luck, right?

No shite. This is, I believe, what confuses the bulletheads so much. Being "passionate" is great, but it has exactly ZERO to do with being a good coach, and I take intelligence over passion any day.

To answer the question, I didn't know a whole lot about Saban, but after seeing his resume and hearing him interviewed, I thought he'd be successful.

Conversely, although Miles' achievements at OSU were pretty good compared to their past coaches, when I heard him interviewed, I thought "this guy is kinda dumb."

No, I will admit our co-dc's was a mistake. You can't be perfect but the prolixity towards Miles is ridiculously unwarrented. I can only use Meyer and www.firemeyer.com as an example. Having the Heisman winner and numerous top 3 ranked classes produced 9 wins last year and now he WILL win the national title.

What really is the difference between Florida last year and LSU this year? Our coach dismissed our "Heisman Candidate" to respect the integrity of our program and he is losing because of it. Yet, almost all hear want him fired only 3 games ago from being the most successful coach in SEC history through 50 games during one of its strongest runs competition wise in it's storied history.

He is losing because he thought the LSU football program would be a good place to pad the resumes of his buddies. No other reason.

I don't know about 2005, but Spurrier would have been the clear favorite with our 2006 team.

No, I think the 2005 team might have been the most talented team in LSU history. I remember talking to my dad about it during tht entire year - saying that the hurricane would make it look like Les was just unlucky, when in fact he was not very smart and wasted what was set up to be the culmination of Saban's recruitment efforts.

And yes, I think Spurrier could have totally dominated with the last three teams we've had.

Must I forget the luck and DAMN STRONG CORRELATIONS related to maintaining a program during not 1 or 2 but 3 of the biggest natural disasters in US history.

Saban would have won all 12 games in 2005. FACT
Ol' Ball Coach would have broken every passing record in LSU history. FACT
Who can forget Jerry Rice and him coaching up Early Doucet.

Seriously, earlier this year when our Defense truely sucked at Georgia, would you have been more supportive of Miles if he fired both DC's and "moved along" a la Tubberville and his offense?
