There's really no reason that they can't suddenly decide to go with an 8-team playoff.

If they go with 4 teams, there is no answer that isn't going to piss off a large batch of the fan base. It would be tough to pull off an 8-team playoff, but it could be done. They should be calling all the conference presidents right now getting them to an emergency vote and scrambling to make it happen. It would frick up some bowl games. Would have to make some deals there as well. Might have to use them for the first round.

8 teams would put in Michigan, Washington, FSU, Texas, Alabama, Ohio St., and Georgia. The question is who would be #8, and the likely choice is the top team from outside the power 5... Tulane?

Well, with that logic, just start the 12 team playoff now

It is OVER and no SEC team deserves to be in. Period

So they would do this to soothe the feelings of Bama and Georgia?

You are not familiar with logistics and contracts I see.

There are some questionable LSU “fans”. Bleeding heart Bama fans is my observation.

No... They'd do it because the networks would pay a shite ton of money for those 4 extra games, and in the process you make a lot of fans happy. Lots of people have different views of which team should get the last spot.
