Think about it - you lead the team for 8 spotless games, then hit Bama and 2 ints and you're yesterday's wet newspaper in the coach's eyes. Benched and "out" as far as any further starts or even significant play-time, Lee is no fool and he surely knows his coach's preferences and could see the intent was there to reinstate JJ, once his felony was plea-bargained down to a misdemeanor. You can't really talk to the press or anyone about this without sounding like a snitch or cry-baby. If you were in his shoes, you'd be depressed, too.

it's about JJ having Les by the balls

After watching the debacle last night I believe this might have some merit. I think there is something hoke here.

Even Gary Danielson thought before the game that Lee had another chapter to write before his leaving LSU. That he would have a chance at redemption in the BCSNC game. Les never gave him that chance.
Lee has two interceptions against Bama and is yanked permanently. JJ has a MUCH more lousy game against Bama and stays in the whole game. Total bullshite from Miles. Makes no sense what so ever!
The worst coaching meltdown I have ever witnessed.

I'm really starting to buy into this theory about Jefferson having some sort of knowledge or dirt on the football program. I just...it's all far to strange to me. It's easy to hid it with Ws, but when it blows up, it doesn't look....logical.

I wonder if the other coaches said anything to Miles about playing Lee .

This stupid stuff is why I've stayed away from the rant since the game, looks like it will take more than a day.

I think Lee is simply a headcase. He just doesn't look good. His body language, etc. I mean during the media interviews before the game he looked depressed.

Gee, wonder what would make him feel depressed. He got yanked for two interceptions after leading his team to that point an undefeated season. He threw those interceptions to his (and my) arch nemesis. Damn, I'd be feeling all good about myself after that.

Look back at early comments this year from teammates and his interviews. He was nothing but smiling and joyous. Remember the celebrations and congratulations after he threw yet another LONG touchdown. How many of those did JJ throw? He was having the time of his life. Finally redemption from the early screw ups when forced to play too early. And then, like a bad dream, he made two mistakes. And he rarely saw the field again. He knew once JJ was in he was screwed. Like he was his whole college career.

I'm buying into this as well, its just too odd the way the JJ/JL thing was handled. Our offense did not look as efficent starting with the Western Kentucky game and everyone could see it, so I know the coaches could see it. There has to be more to it then we know about and if so it will come out. The only other explaination is that Les Miles is the most stubborn coach in college football.

Yeah, and JJ looked real eager to take shots last night. For all the crap some on here gave JL, JJ was the one with the feathers last night.

This. Who would not be depressed when your coach (or teacher, or mentor, etc) has never really had confidence in you, who plays you only because he has to, and who wants to (will and has) yanked you as soon as he could.

OTOH, conspiracy theories abound. Consider what was said in another whacked thread elsewhere in these environs...
quote:

If you are worried about said qb ratting you out if he um, enjoyed a certain amount of comp because he is the type that would, then you are stuck with him. came from a friend of mine who played for Crowton at tech and is top PI in the state. Said read between the lines, they were stuck with Jefferson because he probably would turn them in if he got anything and is the kind of brat who would.
Can you believe somebody posted something like this? Who could believe such a thing?

In order to keep something quite it is best to limit the information to only one or two people. We know Les knows and he will not talk. If only one other person knows the low down and it is either JJ or JL then we might never know. Especially if it protects JJ, JL and/or Les. The way I see it is that if this has to do with JL then Mett gets in the game with the NC on the line. If it about JJ then nobody gets in to keep him and/or his family happy thus quite. Remember les off the hook as long as JJ had a felony charge then when JJ gets back Les just can't demote JL because he has LSU O clicking. If you remember JJ gets in the very first game at the goal line to score. As the games go by pressure builds from JJ and/or family to start JJ. As soon JL makes his mistakes JJ takes over. Make no mistake, this is all about JJ not JL. If JL was the issue then Mett would have been playing instead of JL. Like I said in another thread JJ was the cancer.

This.

He had no choice but to stick with an inept QB? Keep telling yourself this!

His only chance at success was completing passes down field. There was no chance of that with JJ. And according to the players JL was a big part of the game plan coming in, and guys like Williford and RR expected JL to play, and said so post game. It is fricking BS and it is all on Miles.

That's not what anyone is saying. We understand why JJ started. Just why Lee wasn't given even one series to try and spark the O.

OOOO...Typo. Idiot! Its funny listening to this garbage. Alabama crushed LSU! Over two games kicking only two FGs and having no TDs in 8 QTs. It wouldnt have mattered if Lee had played.

Wait. Now, y'all's new narrative is turning this into one long game?

Y'all won Monday, congrats. But, come on.

This is most assured true but that's not the point. LSU fans have seen Lee kept on the sidelines for no reason for more that just this game hence all the discussion. It is not about whether Lee would of won the game.

My sister in law who works on campus has told me that during the first game, Jarrett Lee changed some plays on Les Miles(resulting in the last interception) and so Les benched him after Lee got in an arguement with Les about who was the real starting qb.
