It's interesting how they will readily admit they recruit alot of Florida and the south, so they basically have a "SEC country" recruited team in West Virginia. Just look at their recent "big play stars" like Pat white (Alabama) and Noel Devine (Florida) If they brought in the majority of their players from the state and local area, I doubt they would be a blip on the radar screen football wise.
We've also had two Louisiana players in the past few of years that went to the NFL. Chris Henry, from Belle Chasse, who was killed in an accident last year, and Darius Reynaud, from Luling, now with the Giants.
It's a matter of numbers. WV is overwhelmingly white, and an aging population that is the third oldest average age in the country. That's with only 1.8 million people to start with. We have good players, we just don't have many.
Outside of FL, TX and CA, Ohio and PA are two of the richest recruiting grounds in the country, and WV recruits many players from those states, as well as NJ. We also have players from VA, AL, CA, MD, GA, TX, TN, NY, and AZ.

the river parishes along the I-10 corridor between baton rouge and new orleans have produced more nfl players per capita than any other place in america. so you wv people can keep talking about all the "awesome" players wvu gets from ohio and pennsylvania so long as you're ok with still being mediocre year in and year out

You obviously don't understand Louisiana tradition, we don't think of WV as a cupcake, no we think of ya'll as a lightly dusted beignet.

The problem lies in the fact that you take pride in that french heritage...
It's like the french arms dealer slogan, "never been shot, dropped once." let's hope your football team has more firepower than that.

and yes, we do consider the big least a cupcake conference. the middle tier of our conference includes auburn, arkansas, south carolina, and georgia. yours includes uconn, rutgers, and south florida. can you not see the discrepancy here?

As my friend from India would say:
