I wasn't worried about ESPN's antipathy. It doesn't matter IRL.

But now the Wall Street Journal hates LSU. That's unacceptable.

quote:

Louisiana State University

One of the most perplexing traditions dutifully carried on by students around the SEC is the perpetuation of the myth that LSU fans smell like corndogs. Some suspect this began years ago when some confused fans in Alabama misapplied an insult normally reserved for fans of teams in states more famous for growing corn, like Nebraska. In any case, LSU Tigers fans don't find it funny at all: they keep their real-live tiger in a cage parked by the opponents' locker room on game days.

Actually, it's nice to know where the corndog thing came from. Wasn't it some stupid Auburn fan who started it? Typical Alabama resident, doesn't know a corndog from sausage on a stick!!

My impression is that it slams the IQ of Alabama.

omg,
we smell like food?
who'd a thunk that?
maybe the barners don't know how to cook.
i thought our cooking and tailgating is the reason that we started throwing the ball around the field in 1860.

i'm proud to smell like a corndog, especially since it is quite spicy cajun cookin'.

What the hell is he talking about. An Aub did start this but, uh Nebraska...typical person who doesnt really know what they're talking about.

The concensus is the smell comes from the diet of people in LA. Which has great food BTW.

I read the article and "SEC traditions" part. I'm not even sure how the LSU thing is relevant to her article. She talks about Auburn fraternities then her side bar talks about MSU's cowbells, Auburns War Eagle chant, and Arkansas calling the hogs. She must be an Auburn fan.

This consensus that you speak of, is it based on football game attendance? If so, blame it on the tailgating, where everyone has leaned over the food being prepared, to savor the smell, or just to make sure it is done right.
