Chase averaged 21+ yards per catch last year and did it on an enormous number of catches, so it wasn’t as if he just caught a few bombs to up his average. Marshall was around 14.
Similar to Marshall’s 1:4 ratio of TD:rec, Chase was 1:4.2, but again...on a lot more balls.
I can’t find the drops or catches/target stats right now, but if memory serves, Chase beats Marshall there as well.
I think Marshall is fantastic, but Chase might be the best to ever play WR for LSU.
ETA: I went through the box scores from last year and their catches per target were actually fairly close, but two things jumped out. Jets was GREAT on catches per target (111 catches on only 132 targets) and holy shite did Chase destroy Vanderbilt:
10 catches on 11 targets for 229, 4 TDs

He's the best WR we have had in years. NFL teams will view him as a better prospect than Chase.
Tell me this after Marshall dominates the best corners in the nation one on one at crunch time. Tell me this after we play Bama, and Marshall toasts Surtain whenever Bama tries to single him up. Tell me after Bama and Florida have to retool their defenses because they can't afford to single cover Marshall.
You watch him slice through a zone defense, and that's great, but Chase punished teams - teams that put their best cover guy on him, while their third best was covering Marshall.
JaMarr Chase was not just the best receiver at LSU; he was the best in the nation. And he will be one of the best in the NFL; and I mean one of the very best, like top 5.

You forget Justin Jefferson played a huge roll in his success as a player the defense had to also account for. It's not like Chase was out there with no one else to worry about.

So your contention is that Chase’s stats are bolstered by playing with Jefferson but Marshall’s weren’t by being the 3rd target of the defense?
