You didn't watch much of Jerry Rice, did you?

Yes. Actually met him twice and saw him play many times. If you look at Toliver in the clips shown in the first part of this thread, it is more than the #80 that brings Rice to mind. Yes, Rice is obviously much more accomplished, but we are talking style here. In the clips shown, there is no question that Jerry Rice comes to mind in at least these shots/moves...

but most of the posters are just trying to compare style.

and people are comparing randall, who probably runs a 4.55, to andre johnson, who ran a 4.28 coming out (at more weight)

I hope Shepard develops Harrison's pass catching ability.

Who do you compare the 3 to? My point in this was to
1) recognize that LSU has 3 5-star receivers in the starting lineup
2) To offer initial suggestions and to solicit a variety of perspectives on who in the Pros each of them remind us of.

Looks like no one offered major disagreement with the fact that Toliver has a touch of Jerry Rice style in him as shown in the clips. It also looks like Andre's speed differential is the reason why some are not agreeing with that compare for Randle, but body/frame and physicality/style wise (which is the main point of this discussion) there seems to be some compare. If not, just offer a fricken name up. As for Shep, a quick look at the title of this thread gives up-front recognition o the fact that no one really comes to mind. Marvin Harrison seems to look similar, and as Slo says, he was faster in his earlier days. Again, why don't you offer a compare.

OK

Terrence Toliver...really the only comparison I have for him is Randy Moss. He's really good at going up and getting the ball. He's got Moss' height and both play quick for taller guys.

Rueben Randle...really can't compare him to anyone based on what I've seen. He's similar to Lafell, but might have better hands. He doesn't have great speed, but has everything it takes to be a really good WR.

Russell Shepard...this one is easy, Percy Harvin. As a college player, he'll take snaps at WR, RB, and even QB. Both are electrifying players, and you do anything to get the ball in their hands, unfortunately LSU wasn't able to do that last year. Sheppard hasn't been a full-time receiver for an entire season so the Marvin Harrison comparison is completely retarded.

Sounds fine to me.

Randy Moss and Jerry Rice are both good to me for Toliver.

As for Percy, agree on what you said, but I thought he was about 3 inches shorter and more "full" compared to Shep, but maybe it is more like 1-2 inches shorter than Shep (listed at 6 1")...

There has to be a compare for Randle (and not just limited to speed compare either)...Chad Ochocinco?

Seriously, they are nothing alike. Thats like saying a QB looks like Tom Brady and Vick. Jerry Rice was a moderately speeded, insanely precise route runner with amazing hands, good after the catch, and amazing work ethic. Randy is a physical freak who is the definition of a deep threat, jumps high, pushes off, runs terrible routes, literally would run a go instead of anything else because he felt like it, and has great hands. Nothing alike. At. All.
