Rushing stats in wins:

43 Att/G 218.5 YPG 2 TDS per game

Rushing Stats in Losses:

29 Att/G 64.5 yards .5 TDS per game.

We actually had 38 rushes against MSU but averaged 2.11 YPA.

The running game eats clock and helps us shield the defense a bit.

So what are the differences?

1. Ingram didn’t play vs Missouri
2. More RPOs helped Open up the run game vs USCe
3. John Emery
Averaging 15 touches and 95.5 yards in wins
4.5 touches and 17.5 touches in losses
TDP is solid in wins and losses. They are clearly the 1-2 punch we need. A read thunder and lighting kind of duo.

TDP and Emery remind of me of the Nick Chubb and Sony Michel duo from uga. If TDP and Emery can stay healthy they will be dangerous and have the potential to be 1st-2nd round picks if they really start to go off.

The other big, big key is that LSU has a passing attack that will prevent the better defenses from stacking the box unlike in the past with Les Miles's teams. I can't imagine how potent the running game would have been with Fournette, Guice and Jeremy Hill in the 2019 or 2020 offense.

I think the biggest difference is they were challenged to be more physical by the coaches and we were more dedicated to run the ball to protect our freshman QB

If by challenged you mean the coaches called running plays sure.

I think they were terrible in first 3 games and it wasn't all bc we didn't try to run more. We ran well from the start of the game against SC

we weren't terrible rushing vs Vandy. we actually fed Emery, and lo and behold, he produced.

They are both good, but I don’t think either are all-time LSU backs, unfortunately. They both seem to take longer to hit full speed than some of their better predecessors. They are no doubt great once they gain momentum and get past the LOS, but are very dependent on the OL opening up at least a little hole to allow that. I know that seems obvious for every RB, but I think more so with them.

Seem to be a lot of carries for zero or negative yards because they can’t make anybody miss behind the LOS and don’t hit the hole hard enough to at least fall forward for a yard. With a good OL, I think they’re both great. But with a suspect one like we trotted out the 1st 3 games, I can see why the coaches started Curry. He’s not capable of hitting the home run like TDP and Emery, but he’s less likely to lose yards and put us behind the sticks. Hopefully what we saw with the OL against USC is a sign of things to come, and we can start riding the sophomores for 175- 200 yards/game.

Emery had a good game but we still didn't rush for over 200...and it's Vandy. The oline did not perform well in the first 3 games. They were great against SC and looked like a different unit than we have seen all year

We only had. 32 rushes thought.

We average like 5 yards a carry.

5.03 YPC vs 5.11 YPC. So, Arguably yes pretty close.

Emery was better vs Vandy
TDP was a little worse.

I am not saying they are all time backs right now but merely have the potential to break out now to the end of junior/senior year. Sony and Chubb complimented each other in similar running styles that Emery and TDP do, especially in height/weight/speed. Dont forget TDP had an electric touchdown last year against Florida. I think he's the best back we have, and will be playing on sundays. Emery is fitted better for this offense though being a scat back. Saying they can't make any one miss behind the LOS is inane when the first two games we essentially abandoned the run.

But yes if we can get 200 yards out of them and keep the passing game up as well. Will be hard to beat us. Just depends on if we can execute and if Pelini get's his head out of his azz
