The jugs machine. All those Burrow passes and I cannot recall one drop that was right in the hands.

I just remember 4 tds in like the first 10 mins. I do recall a thread last week mentioning Jefferson was absent at jugs practice this could explain it then

It's fun to bring up the Jugs machine. But.

LSU Sports discussed and posted a video of some of the unconventional drills Brady puts WRs through. They are undeniably working as we went from several drops a game to averaging < 1 per game.

Wrong!!!!!

The real unsung hero is Buckeye Jeaux for pushing the players to get keys to use the jugs machine.

you could make a device that's synched with a Jugs machine. A Helmet with a piece over the the eyes that can be made opaque or transparent like those bathrooms doors that darken when you close the lock. In this case it's the opposite. When the ball is "fired" from the machine there's a slight delay (based on distance away the person is standing) then the mask becomes clear so they can see the ball. Can darken on just the sides so they have tunnel vision like the zoro mask things. Would be an interesting idea since it can be programmed to do different things and wouldn't be had to modify an existing Jugs machine to use it. Also, could be made to fit in a regular helmet like the plastic facemasks some players wear like LT and Ricky Williams.

I remember this pic and the article talking about catching balls through doors and didn’t quite understand the purpose of it.

But now that I think about it, if the jugs machine is out of sight and you can practice catching the ball in a split second, that could be a very good drill. Watching the ball come out of the jugs machine and catching it is much easier. The “door drill” must simulate a receiver making his break, turning around and the ball is merely feet away and they have to react instantly.

Without all those fancy inventions, all you have to do is have the receivers look away from the jugs and a coach hollers “break” or something as the ball is about 5 yards away from them. Turn and catch. Repeat many many times.

That would require a receiver to do reps where his head/eyes are situated differently than they are in an actual game. The whole point is to simulate challenging in-game situations.

(Yes, I know that there aren't actual doors opening and closing during games, but in that drill the WR has his eyes directed toward the place where the ball is coming from at the right time.)

Yeah I know. This prevents "cheating" and also would be able to be set so there is a defined amount of time the receiver has to react to the ball. It may be a dumb idea, just seems like it could be interesting since it could be customized. One rep only one eye becomes opaque, another both, another the other eye. etc. Again, just kind of a brainstorming idea.
