Id like to see a rational discussion as to why so many people think Mett CANT step in and play well.

You've obviously already made up your mind that he should play.

It's okay. I have a documented history of acting like an a-hole when dealing with douche bags.

What SITUATION do we have? A QB that wins a BIG game for us? Yeah we should bench JL right now and put in a QB who has NEVER played a down in the SEC!! I am behind JLEE all the way. He has earned it!

I think Lee can break the 2k mark if the recievers start catching the ball. We aren't going to be running the ball down SEC defenses like we did Oregons so a good passing game is essential.

It's typically just "squid", not "squidboy". But yeah, I'm cool with it. How do you feel?

Based on what you saw in the game, and reports from fall practice, how do you guys think the QB situation is?

I saw a very "safe" QB game called. I'll reserve judgment for now.

Will Lee continue to manage the game and improve through the season?

I believe he will.

Will Mett, now knowing he may have a shot to start by the end of the year, put the effort required to make it to the first team?

Why would he get that impression? And what makes you think he hasn't put forth a solid effort already?

Yes

If he wasn't putting forth effort before he needs to GTFO.

I hope Lee improves, Mett improves and JJ comes back improves and helps where ever he can. IMO you can't have enough good QBs. Can't have enough with playing experience.

imo, you really don't improve that much once the season starts. there is less practice time, much less contact, and for the qb position lee won't get the "real game" pressure or contact. what you see is what you get with lee, he will play better in some games but not as well in others.

Maybe is most circumstances, but I don't think so in this case. Because Lee had not been working full time with the first team, I think he will improve as the season wears on as his timing with the receivers improves.

if, and I repeat if, this statement is true it doesn't say much for Mett's character which already carries a blemish. the young man has got to understand the opportunity that events have presented and it would be tragic if we had another all world talent with a small town brain. the ball is in his court.

good post.
Surpisingly the NFL qb scouts that post on here about the troubles of JLee's "footwork" didnt have any rebutals.

The bottom line is that the chains continue to move more than with JJ.

So we converted 40% of our 3rd downs against Oregon. The previous 2 years we converted 38% of our 3rd downs. I guess that is a huge improvement...

150 yards in dropped passes/penalty brought back. Most of which were first down passes. Lee did fine.

Well, they aren't the 3rd ranked team in the country anymore. FWIW, we were 6/15 on 3rd downs against Auburn last year also.

The QB spot in this game was not a glaring "week link" as it was in most games last year. The problem with Lee has been consistancy. He has had incredible quarters of football in LSU history. Troy 08 rendered 28 points in a quarter and a half of ball in the greatest comback in LSU history. Auburn 08 when he threw a pick six and came back for a great game and a win. Florida, Tennesee and Bama last year. Then he craps the bed like La Tech 09. If we can get any consistancy and no big turnovers from Lee moving forward, this will be a special year.
