The Power of The Rant on full display...

When I watched this, I wasn't sure if it was Chris Blair making the calls. (The first comment by Jamey 21 below the headline "Full Highlights" post seemed to confirm it, but I had not read that comment before watching the video.)
Anyway, notice the difference of inflection and excitement in Chris Blair's voice after a big play by the Tigers. There is little doubt that 1) either he read the criticism on this message board about his stale play-by-play and lack of enthusiasm, or 2) someone who knows him read it and recommended that he bring it up a notch.
Full highlights vs. Ole Miss
He's not a homer - but maybe he can fake it until he makes it.

He had to be sick at the Auburn game. There’s been a good virus/flu bug going around the Baton Rouge area for the past month, and that Auburn game that came down to the wire was the most emotionless call of any game I’ve heard.
I’m giving Blair the benefit of doubt and assuming he was under the weather and sucking it up and “playing injured”.

But sometimes he puts the inflection in strange places. During the Ole Miss game he inflected on "I'm NOT sure..."
On Joe Foucha's int he didn't mention it was one-handed. His descriptions are about down and distance but nothing about the impact or magic of the plays.

I noticed he was a lot more excited! He sounded like he was reading the news during the Auburn game!

Listen to a Saints broadcast. Blair is very good.

We are spoiled by Blair. He sounds like he should and he describes things in far more detail than Hawthorne ever did not to mention the accuracy. I get it. Jim was a fan and often sounded like one. You could tell his excitement and it leaked through the radio. But he ruined so many calls it was becoming unbearable. And his complaining during the baseball games made me want to strangle him. He would miss whole outs complaining about a pitcher who ever picked off more than once a game. Hanny would have to interrupt and let the audience know what was actually happening.

Blair certainly “puts you there”, which to me is the job of a radio guy, I think he does a fantastic job. Dude also works like 45 weekends a year. Props

I hope the Rant has no power at all.
