Its amazing how anything but blind allegiance is considered melting.

He doesn’t need a contract extension this year to recruit. Even you admitted that
No I didn't thats a omission and misrepresentation, Mr. "Attorney"
It's apparent many allegedly intelligent people on this board don't know what it takes to succeed in college football from a long-term perspective so I'll spell it out for you like you're a third-grader:
-We're making breakthroughs in recruiting this and next year
-After 2 full WINNING (but unremarkable) seasons and with a diminishing buyout, this season could reasonably be construed as a make or break year for O's future
-by all accounts, O has a good reputation with the players, they love playing for him
-he's nationally known as a great recruiter and we don't want to stop the momentum we have at this point
Now here's the conclusion, "Counselor," and everyone listen up: Through the reasonable inference that this is a make or break year for O with all the strides made recruiting-wise, do we want to risk the big picture and greater good by leaving his tenure up in the air throughout the season and opposing coaches poaching our in-state recruits? As a presumptively risk averse attorney, I'd presume you'd be in agreement on this and only concerned about the size of the buyout. CASE CLOSED.

Absolutely not true.
However if 90% of your posts on the subject are negative, you've got a problem.

Why is O being lauded for hauling in a top class in a year Louisiana is loaded with multiple 5 star talents and a plethora of top 100 kids.
You all are acting like he’s done the unimaginable here. He’s had the worst rated class in like 15 years when he didn’t have Louisiana with a major load of great talent in the class. He’s done nothing new with recruiting and it isn’t better than Miles has done when Louisiana was loaded. Somehow he’s improving things though. ?
LSU has 3 top 5 classes in Miles’ last three years including two top 2 finishes. Ed isn’t doing better as far as total talent is concerned.
You shut your mouth.
This isnt 2005-2016.
Averging 3.5 losses a year and averaging the 6th best sec class over 2 years is crushing it.

Sammy's not an attorney. He works the night shift at jack in the box.

Because it is.
And recruits will know how that’s going based on our W and Ls.
Not because 8 months before the season we gave O an extension.

At no point has any recruit ever not signed with a school over a coach's contract. Coaching contracts in no way creat stability. Coaches are hired and fired regardless of contract lenght all the time. Giving O an extension in no way HELPS lsu right now. It can only hurt lsu in the future.

And if 100% of your posts are purple and gold fairy tales and excuses?
Saying there was no need to extend a coach isnt melting.

You mean the guy that said titles was the reason he chose bama?
quote:
Why Alabama?” Surtain said live on ESPNU. “Because there’s a coach over there. They win championships. Over here (Fort Lauderdale’s American Heritage High School), we’re used to winning, so I want to be a part of that winning culture.”
Dont let facts get in the way of your posts.
Like i said. Winning creates stability. Not contracts

O had 4 years on his co tract when Surtain flipped to Bama.
What was unstable about that?
Please explain it to me I dont understand Ben.
What was unstable about O after a 9-4 season with a 2-4 records vs teams over .500?

Link. I always admitted Miles had flaws and never called 3 loss seasons great.
Unlike you, my level of expectations dont change depending upon the coach.
I never laid offensive production at the Strenght and Conditioning coach's feet.
I never called miss st or any inferior team more talented than lsu during miles' tenure.

Since Orgeron has always been a stop-gap, figure head coach, yes, this is the perfect time to talk about succession planning. Orgeron would struggle to put together winning seasons if he hadn't inherited Aranda.
If LSU doesn't begin succession planning discussions now, it will have no leverage once they extend O.

Exactly. Winning and losing is what creates stability.
Surtain knew he would win titles if he went to Bama.
