So fricking pathetic. What could O possibly have done to the guy that makes him hate him? Not a damned thing. O just isn't good enough for the guy.
I could understand if O wasn't doing a good job. If he stumbles I say he's got to go but O seems to have the program going in the right direction and you have to be totally biased not to see it.

1. Support staff
Syracuse doesn’t have the money to pay his coaching staff like LSU does. No Aranda. No analysts. He’s not getting top end X’s and O’s guys to pick up that slack.
Let me stop you right there. Syracuse has been trying to become a relevant football program again for the last decade.
And the alumni have deep pockets. Take a look at their donor endowment - 1.4 billion - almost twice LSU's.
What Syracuse is missing is a HC who can recruit. And Syracuse plays a much much softer schedule than LSU.

That is only one rationale. There is also the matter of paying a coach the going rate. For a top-10 Power-5 HC that is about 6.1 million.
I would agree except that Orgeron himself agreed to being paid less than the average coach in his position so he could use that money to pay top coordinators.
Simply put. Orgeron is not an X and O coach. He’s just not. He’s not an inventive or revolutionary strategist. But that doesn’t mean he can’t be a successful head coach. He is a good motivator and can identify talent. If he can get a couple strategy guys on his side and let them do what they do, there is no reason Orgeron couldn’t take LSU to a championship.

Man I'd respond to this but I feel like I'm on the brink of being banned.
I'll just say that the head coach is a very nice man with a nice family.

I agree with this. Key being " a couple strategy guys." He's one short right now. He knows it. I know it. You know it.
So why he doesn't get a competent OC is beyond me.

the amount of people in this thread that think years is more important than the buyout is hilarious

Dino Barbers makes less than Dave Aranda
So everything you just said is hullshit.
They aren’t paying coordinators 2.5 million
They probably aren’t paying them 1 million.
Syracuse alumni have deep pockets, but they aren’t a football school.
New York is not a football state. There is a reason it’s the 4th most populous state and has 29 NFL players.
Louisiana has 60 with 1/10th the population
Syracuse is never going to be a top 25 recruiting school.
They aren’t.
They need elite schemes to make them competitive. Period.

I think that O believes that he just filled the position.

He’s believed that 3 seasons in a row.
We’re all very hopeful about Joe Brady but O clearly doesn’t know what’s he’s doing. In that department
It’s like people pumping Alleva for hiring wade. It’s his 3rd shot st it. Eventually he’ll get lucky
Canada, Sullivan and Joe are so drastically different in background and styles. How can you say o knows what he’s doing?

Not surprised at all. The most vocal complainers usually know the least.

Do you think the buyout is not also being extended
Is that also “necessary” to prevent negative recruiting and “business as usual?”

Roger how do you feel about O getting extended before a season that in your mind will be very telling.
Extensions are worthless, it's the buyout that's important.
No one gives a shite about extensions except for a very few idiots.

Do you think we’re extending him without extending the buyout?
For any reason we have giving him an extension, isn’t it defeated by not guaranteeing any of it?

Extending the buyout is no big deal. Enlarging the buyout is a problem.
His buyout is dirt cheap anyway. It's not going to prevent him from being fired.

It can be both.
Extensions aren't big deals, it's just fodder for drama queens.

It’s dirt cheap now that we’re 2 years into his contract.
It Was not dirt cheap at the beginning of this season or at the beginning of the contract.
His buyout with 4 years left was like 12.5
