Its been 5 years but the USC obsession is alive and well among LSU fans. Oh the irony.

There's at least a *little* justification, given that LSU had a legitimate complaint -- that they won the national championship and still had to "split" the title.

Meanwhile, there was absolutely nothing terrible to my memory in the title game that would merit a five-year grudge.

Of course, I'm not sure that the title "split" is grounds for a five-year grudge -- but at least something happened to merit it there.

Walking outside of the dome before the 03 game, we passed an older couple and the wife "Boomer Soonered" me. I stopped and told her hi and politely asked her what exactly boomer sooner meant (Hell I wasn't even sure what sooner was at this point, although I didn't tell her that). She looked at me as though I had asked her for a blow job and was slient. I said again very nicely, seriously what does boomer sooner mean? Her husband mumbled something about how he hates to leave Oklahoma and they scurried into the dome. Totally different than the Ohio
State people.

Do you know what it refers to now?

If not, here:
When the U.S. opened up land for Oklahoma, they allowed for people to go and stake a claim to unassigned lands. Those who went in before hand (broke the law, cheated) are called Sooners. The term boomer refers to efforts in the latter part of the 1800's to establish settlements and became known as the boomer movement.

I looked into it after the game to satisfy my curiousity. Why couldn't they just tell us? Strange...

Well, Oklahoma is a strange state so from a strange state expect strangers.

And that's being kind. It's full of traditional conservative goobers and rednecks, a lethal combination.

So Boomer Sooner is a yell referencing the raping of the native American lands and displacing thousands of people from their home land. Classy! Better hope we don't play them next year, the Chief will take his revenge.

Thats what Boomer Losers do, they whine and complain! I guess they are still pissed that Saban broke his dick off in their arse 4 years ago and sent them in a downward spiral, and Petee Carroll butt raped them in that 56-10 beatdown! OU fans and Texas fans are by far the cockiest group of pricks around, and Bama, Florida, etc. I live near Houston and it is deafaning to listen to this crap.

I agree, the Ohio State fans were pleasant to be around, an overall pleasing group. I also work with several Tennessee fans that are enjoyable.

The first part of this is correct. The "Boomer" part is actually referring to those who waited for the legal start to the land runs-the firing of a cannon-thus the "boom", to signal the start of the mad dash for lands.
I've lived here for 30 years and Zero U fans are undoubtedly the most obnoxious people anywhere! I still get ugly comments and looks and gestures from the '03 game but all I do is grin and raise my forefinger.
I was half-assed pulling for OU because of my golfing buddies that are among the few good ones. It's too bad that, like the good LSU fans, they have to suffer because of the fricking morons otherwise. But unlike the good LSU fans which I believe are in the majority, they happen to be in the minority here.

I've never commented on a fan behavior thread, but honestly, has any team ever complained more than Oklahoma did in 2003?

I'll put it this way.... it's apparently a different culture in the conference formerly known as the Big-8. From Oklahoma's perspective, they only have to deal with "obnoxious" fans of other teams when they play Texas and in their bowl games.

In the SEC we call dealing with obnoxious fans, "Saturday."

I'll take our situation.

Back in the day of the Big 8, it was known as the Big 2 and Little 6-Zero U and Nebraska ruled with everybody else having a decent year now and then. Now that it's the Big 12, it's not much different only now it's Zero U and Texass being the powers each year with everybody else having decent years now and then.
These people here are so used to Zero U walking over everybody in what has been and still is a consistently weak conference overall that it is hard for them to accept getting their asses handed to them in games against as good or better opponents.
I told one of my buddies that was lamenting over the game that these teams up here, while they may have talent just as good as LSU or Fla., the SEC teams play with a physicality each and every game unmatched in college fb and that is the difference in these games and that teams like Boise St. or WV play with an emotional chip-on-the-shoulder edge that they don't match. They don't have to play that way each weekend because of the talent disparity where as in the SEC you better have all your armor on because you're gonna get your dick knocked in the dirt EVERY weekend.
And until Zero U learns to play this way in these games, they can expect a repeat every time. And we can expect to hear the same whiny cry-baby bitching out of them every year as well!

Being a native Louisianan and LSU fan that has now lived 2+ yrs. in the midwest, I would make a few observations. I would agree that the Big 12 is usually pretty lopsided in talent, with OU and Texas the perennial powers. Predating that, OU was one of the two perennial Big 8 powers. This has engendered a certain level of perceived entitlement by OU fans, whether deserved or not. Secondly, midwesterners are, in general, not likely to be as openly verbal, and hostile as southerners. They look at that as being rude or uncouth. There are, of course, many exceptions to this rule, but that being said most OU fans, I believe, think that way. I believe it comes down to feelings of entitlement and "cultural" differences. That and,oh yeah, the physicality in the SEC week in and out is WAY over the Big 12.KC.
