It seems to me that if Iowa is tops in the computers, but 3rd in both polls, and LSU is 3rd in the computers, but 2nd in both polls, then we would be to the point that we are looking at actual vote totals.
Yes, and that is my point. IF Iowa managed to be a clear #1 in the computers and LSU was a unamanimous #3 in the computers, EVERY VOTER would have to vote LSU above Iowa, just to tie it. But Iowa has to get at least a handful of votes.
LSU could do a little better in Anderson and Hester and maybe Billingsly, but that still doesn't leave room for error in the human polls. And it still doesn't seem like a slam dunk to me 90% of voters are gonna screw an undefeated Big 10 team for a 1 loss team

Okay. I think I understand your position a little better now. It's not just straight math, it's counting on Iowa also getting creditability in the polls.
And not every voter would have to vote LSU above Iowa. Only enough to overcome the computer deficit. And some voters may have LSU at 1 and Iowa at 3, for example.

strength of schedule, best wins, conference rankings, and more updated here

They basically would if Iowa was #1 in every computer poll (I think they could be) and LSU #3. For every two spots ahead in the computers, LSU would need to be a FULL spot ahead by the voters.

maybe, it seems even more unrealistic LSU is above Texas AND Iowa.
I mean Brad Edwards is pretty confident that LSU jumps Iowa. I just don't know if he thinks the computers will be closer, the human polls will highly favor LSU, or he just hasn't looked at it closely.

Strength of the SEC vs. Higher Computer Ranking
It's gonna be a pretty difficult rationalization to make for a voter to rate a one-loss team over an undefeated team based upon the strength of the one-loss team's conference if the computers have ranked the undefeated team higher.
In other words, how can a voter logically rate LSU over Iowa based merely on the strength of the SEC if the computers rate Iowa higher?
LSU says: "Our schedule was tough; just look at our conference." Iowa says: "Our schedule was tougher, just look at our computer ranking. Moreover, your conclusion is based on your subjective opinion. Our conclusion is based upon objective computer evidence."
And I'm not even touching on the whole "Undefeated - What More Could We Have Done - Argument."

LSU's schedule will probably end up tougher, just not tough enough to overcome a loss. But I agree with you and I don't understand how Edwards won't even contemplate the thought Iowa would stay ahead.
LSU's only real argument would be "we beat every team on our schedule" by beating Florida in the SECCG. It is a good argument, but not good enough to convince 75-90% of voters imo.

I could see Les Miles breaking out the "We beat every team on our schedule" just like he said "We are undefeated in regulation" back in 07.

I can see that as well...
Congrats on the huge win Saturday night! That was unbelievable.

Even if LSU wins out and is left out, as long as they jump USC I'll be OK with it. There is no way in hell that an objective American who is true to themselves would rate USC ahead of LSU at this point in the season. It is wrong.

Where is the love for LSU in not moving up?
