I think that when we are on the goal line or in a 4th and very short that we are missing the bruising FB to bust open the whole for our RB.
What do you think about using Nevis as a FB in these situations?

What happened to using Stampley? I thought he was breaking facemasks all over the place during practices.

Stampley broke 16 facemasks and considered the hardest hitter on the team per LSU athletic office. Read his bio on lsusports.net

I think a goalline FB that can get the job done is already in place.

Jesus, we got a bevy of running backs including Michael Ford, one of the strongest players on the team. Ask Miles why he doesn't play Ford at fullback instead of making him ride the pine.

I personally have no issues with Stampley, the guy he puts a hat on never makes a play and that is all you can ask. After the goalline play last week I hope they throw him a bone and let him get a carry.

breaking 16 facemasks (all his own, which speaks to his form) in PRACTICE, when you are lined up across from the guy you are SUPPOSED to hit, is MUCH, MUCH different than picking up the guy you are supposed to block during a play running the blocking scheme devised for the play...

sure, he hits like a truck, supposedly.... but is he adequate enough to find the guy during the play he's supposed to be blocking?? if not, it doesn't matter how hard he hits, because he ain't hitting him anyway!!

I don't think Ford has the size (202 lbs) you need for a FB in these situations

Take a look at the last play of the game Saturday and tell me who he blocked.

That's part of the problem. He's whiffed on several plays. One of our first two games, Miles pulled him aside after he completely missed the defender on two straight plays. I haven't seen many plays at all where he's put his helmet in the defender's chest. I think that's why we've seen Ware on some plays and heard of Copeland working there. No doubt if Stampley hits someone he can do some dmg.

The final play vs Tenn was another good example. He was late coming out of his stance and barely got a piece of the defender.

He's young though and I do see him improving if he can adjust to the speed of the game.

Can JJ gain 30 more lbs and be our fullback? (serious question)

Maybe not the weight but the strength to knock some arse out. Speed also helps at the fullback position. Get there quick and hit the dude using strength to open a hole.
