He just didn't have the guys that he wanted on defense.
Greg Robinson should have left a long time ago.
And I remember 5* recruit William Campbell.
Is that guy even playing for them?

LSU fans who have been (and still are) badgering this man will have to wear that creed like a scarlet letter for years to come as it can ONLY go down hill from here if LSU finds itself looking for a new coach this year.
What happens if LSU improves or stays the same? And if Michigan sucks?
quote:
I believe Miles would own the B10+1+1 over the next ten years and could put another ring or two on his finger(s) while cementing his place in CFB lore as one of the best coaches EVER at two different universities in two major conferences.
Everyone is entitled to believe whst they want.....doesn't mean you're right.
quote:
Miles knows the recruiting trail up north and will only enhance that part of the equation, plus he brings a national presence that Michigan has lacked recently.
What recruiting trail? Most northern teams come down here for skill players.....so recruiting out of state talent to Michigan will be easier than recruiting in state talent to LSU?

1. How exactly is this true?
Well, unless I am dead wrong (and I would be so glad to be wrong in this case) it will be extremley hard for the next guy to be significantly 'better' than Les Miles. In fact if the next guy sustains a better winning percentage than Les by more than a few points for more than a few years he would by definition be HALL OF FAME GREAT.

2. Doesn't this "rant" make you just as bad as the ranters you're ranting against?
Probably but so what, I was bored.
quote:
What kind of "fan" are you that you think LSU will "never be Elite"?
I'm the kind of fan that thinks LSU IS ELITE right now and all the IDIOTS degrading our team and 'Elite' status over their hatred of Les Miles is stupid and my title was pretty obvious sarcasm, I thought.

do you view the fans as the biggest obstacle
Where else does the negativity stem from?

Didn't seem to stand in Bama's way
So how long did it take Bama to replace the Bear again?
quote:
I find it hard to believe that LSU simply cannot find a good quality HC
We have that, apparently that is unacceptable.

Or that whatever HC comes in won't find some measure of success.
Good luck selling the Rant (or anyone else for that matter) on 'some measure of success' being the acceptable gauge...
quote:
Hell, I get things could become worse,
By definition, this is the LIKELY outcome
quote:
but at the same time, things could get a hell of a lot better
So you really think it is LIKELY that the next coach will AVERAGE 12 to 14 wins per season?
Because that is the only way it could be 'a hell of a lot better' than averaging 10+ wins per season...

right now, probably not if you take everything into consideration.
List 3 who are actually realistic
Chavis probably bolts if Les leaves as well.
I dont absolutely love Lester fwiw.

...hmmm... this post proves that you can make up shite, theories, BS, fantasies, speculation, incongruent topics and rumors and weave it into a massively long mind numbing bullet pointed pile of

What about Gundy? Not saying I want him but he has done a better job at Ok. St. than CLM. I just give Gundy to show that there are alot of potential coaches that could do well at LSU. CLM wasn't regarded as a great coach when LSU hired him....hell in most circles he still isnt regarded as a great coach.

1. Pelini
2. Peterson
3. Smart
4. Gruden
5. Del Rio
6. Malzahn
Okay, it's more than three, but there will be plenty in line that no one of the experts on here have even thought about yet

Let's use the rant's logic on this and look at where OSU was when CLM got there versus where it was when Gundy got promoted.
Oh, and how many times has OSU beaten OU since CLM left (or since WWII before he got there)
Sorry, that's not a point for your side, next?

The not too distant future and why LSU will never be Elite...
I'm now predicting—partly because I am fed up with the fickle, cry baby, we deserve better moronic fan base and partly because I think he is—that Les Miles will be the next HC at UM.

Dont get all worked over something that hasn't happened yet. Why not just wait and see what happens. Most of the time things are never as bad as your imagination makes them.

I agree that Miles is a very good coach, but whatever happens is out of the rant or the fans control. There is some saying that when leaders let the masses make decisions they cease to be leaders... or something along those lines. So if Miles leaves because of fan's (short for fanatics) harsh critique of mistakes then he is less (nice pun) of a coach than I think he is and will fail without LA and southern talent laden teams. Look at his record at Okie st. He was a second tier team and could rarely if ever really solidify the program. Michigan has an uphill battle competing for talent in Ohio and the home state against currently successful teams. If he leaves I wish him luck and hope he does it for the right reasons.
I am of the opinion that LSU has BECOME elite, and that is not a status that is maintained or lost easily. Every once elite program cycles through tough times (Miami, USC, Tennessee, UF, Michigan, Bama, Texas...) some as a result of internal problems, others because of competition.
The LA talent and the current rep of LSU will maintain this "elite" status with a good recruiter and competent coach.
If Les leaves, LSU AD will hopefully replace him with someone who meets the above criteria and keep rolling. If Les stays, hopefully he will address the problems and keep rolling. Nonetheless
and think positive.

What I am saying is that it is FAR MORE LIKELY that they WILL NOT upgrade from the Coach with the School's ALL TIME best record than it is that the next coach will have as good or better records than the two previous coaches.
To me, this thinking is anti-Miles.
One thing you can like about Miles, is that sometimes, he plays to win.
But when talking about a coach, many fans, like the OP, want LSU to play not to lose.
