Yes, I think he did what he thought would win the game. If you think he didn't you are just a bitter fool. He has way more to gain and lose than you or I.

Yes, it's the broken window fallacy in reverse. We don't know what would have happened, so we assume it would have been better.
It would be hard to be worse...that's not really the point though. Common sense should have been to try another option.

Yeah, well that's and entirely different sport. Those 4 games were decided by 2, 9,3 and 2 points. I think the first loss was when half of LSU's roster was out with the chicken pox.
The point was that anything can happen. LSU lost more guys as the season went on. If you don't like that analogy, 1997 LSU vs. Notre Dame is a good one. In Tiger Stadium, they blew us out 24-6. We faced them again in Shreveport in freezing cold weather (which you think would favor them) and we blow them out 27-9. Stuff happens with competitors.

What calls should have been made? Think the defense had any impact on the calls? Bitching about calls is mostly 20/20 hind sight, although we have no idea what was actually called a lot of times. Sometimes the QB checks down or takes off running and that was not the call.
Their D was awesome - no doubt. On our 2nd possession, 3rd and 10 and we run it with Spencer Ware against that defense...head scratcher... 1st possession of the 4th quarter near the 40 on 3rd and 4 we run our FB who has 1 carry for 0 yards on the year...head scratcher...punting the ball on 4th and 9 with about three minutes left down 21 in the NC game...giving up.
I agree with you about the rest. Bama was a great team and we shouldn't have had to play them again after beating them in their house and having to beat Georgia in Georgia for the SEC Championship. Bama got one of the biggest gifts ever. They took advantage of it though.
I like Les and he's done a good job. The way he handled that game has stuck with me - that's all.

Everyone needs to quit bitching about the onsides kick. Bama got nothing from it and then we ended up driving the 91 yards length of the field to score the go ahead TD. The onsides kick hurt LSU in no way shape or form.
This.
There's enough to bitch about, but this definitely isn't one of those things. When Sean Payton pulled the onside kick off successfully in the SB three years ago, he looked like a genius. The surprise onside kick either works or it doesn't, but I usually won't criticize any HC for attempting it when he feels the time is right.

Didn't read past the first post, but all "so called LSU fans" that keep starting stupid threads like this, I can only wonder what it is you seek??
Do you really think anyone at LSU gives a shite about your drivel. No they don't, and Les will still be our coach for years. Why don't you find another team to pull for....
I can only hope that these "so called LSU" fans are really fans of another team, I'd hate to think LSU fans are really this stupid....

I actually agree. The onside kick I had no problem with. It at least had a chance of success. I shouldn't have used that as an example.
