I don't like the Mannings.

They were too good for LSU..and Mauck, Rohan, and Flynn did what they couldn't

Just wondering. What exactly have the Mannings done for Louisiana, considering how wonderful Louisiana was to the Mannings - Archie in particular. Do they engage in philanthropic works, help rebuild homes in gutted New Orleans, - I am serious, what inspires this Manning worship especially in the New Orleans area, where I live???? I really need more information on this mystical family.

I read this morning that Archie will be a guest speaker at the LSU Football Coaches Clinic...sometething about this hits a nerve with me(am I the only one?).

no...I thought the same thing when I initially read it...

I live in MS and listen to Archie Manning's sports comentary every morning....he has never directly said anything against LSU, but he is certainly not a fan either...he is Mississippi to the bone....not sure exactly why he choses to call NO home....

to your point, as I thought about this during the day today, I actually became OK with it....AM is a retired football player who works in the sports media and also does motivational speeches and appearances for money...Les Miles needed entertainment for the coaches camp and hired AM to provide that....nothing more...

If Booty would have not led everyone to believe that he was going to play football, then maybe we could have had Peyton too. Instead we ended up with melvin hill.

Some people mature in life and what happened to them in their early 20's becomes irrelevant to them.

don't get the hate for the Mannings. Archie grew up in Mississippi and is the greatest Ole Miss player in history and ya"ll think he should love LSU? I have never heard anyone of them say one bad thing about LSU.

Nicely stated.

The Manning family have been doing things for Louisiana for years, one being a great representative of the state. Olivia and Cooper obviously have a lesser role in that, but the football players do a good job, IMO. Archie does more because he was a Saint, and raised the boys in New Orleans.

My cousin was good friends in Jr. and Sr. year at Newman with Eli. He speaks nothing but good things about the family.

He let his son's pick the school where they wanted to play

Correct - he waited until Eli went pro to pick his team for him.

I think it was always pretty much a done deal that both Mannings would go to where Cutcliffe was,

Worked out pretty well for them also, didn't it...

As a matter of fact he does...Archie is involved with Habitat for Humanity, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and many other Philanthropic endeavors in Louisiana...If you don't like the Mannings fine, but you can't discount what Archie and his sons have done for Louisiana. After Katrina all the Mannings pitched in and raised money and helped deliver goods in the New Orleans area. Archie is a class act...

Exactly! Pro football is a business and his livelihood. It was about getting the best fit for his son using his kn owledge and influence in the league. You would have done the same thing for you son.

I understand Archie going to OleMiss of course. I understand Peyton going to Tenn b/c of Booty and Curley. But Eli, he's just another snotty Newman kid from nola who wont consider LSU but will pay out of state tuition for MooState or OleMiss or some other state school. I understand going elsewhere if there is a good reason, such as academics, but dont give me this horseshite about him wanting to follow in his dad's footsteps from 40 years ago.

Of course it is his right to go where he wants, but it is my right to dog him for it.

Come on. If your dad played there and you grew up in Timbuktu, you would grow up with that allegiance. I cut Eli more slack than Peyton on that deal. Either way, bashing Mannings is ignorant... and getting very old.
