If you're a junior and not producing you can't really keep blaming the coaches.
Well Chase and Marshall are frosh, Jefferson an underclassmen starting for the first time. But that doesn't make any sense at all.
I'm not saying they aren't teaching them how to catch. But they're not put in routes (not taught routes) that will get them in space. Are you insinuating we don't have fast talented WRs? Laughable. We don't have a scheme that utilizes them properly. Same with Joe Burrow, who should almost never be under center behind that OL.

I agree our OL was subpar this year, but NOTHING was done to mask that. And that's on the coaches.

Clemson players want it more even forgoing to NFL to stay and help and it shows. They also united as one, like REALLY united under a head coach that has been a stabilizing influence in their lives. Coach O took over in 2016 admist turbulence.

Clemson fan stayed behind even when they are winning to ensure they reclaim the title of Death Valley. They own that title now since 2012 cause their fans show up for every game even cream puffs.

Coaching.

This includes:
- talent evaluation in the trenches
- recruiting at OT
- player development / conditioning (QB and lines)
- offensive play calling

You can look at all the statistics in the world and I do realize that Clemson has won with two 5* dual threat QB's...

BUT

The real reason I think Clemson is able to take down Bama when no one else can is the fact that they don't play scared.
Ummm, there's a flaw in that theory.

2017, Clemson was ranked #1, defending champs. But they had Kelly Bryant, not Deshaun Watson or Trevor Lawrence at QB.

Quick refresher- Bryant threw for 2800 yds, 13 TDs and 8 int at 65%. He might have been the best runner of the 3, but he was also the worst passer. He was basically "average LSU" QB (we'll accept that he had more yds, but in the ACC that is somewhat expected).

Bama crushed Clemson in a very LSU-ish game. 24-6, Clemson had 124 yds passing, 0 TDs, 2 ints. Since they couldn't throw, Bama was able to focus on the run, and held them to 64 yds.
Do the math, and you see Clemson was held to under 200 total yds on offense.

Not scared? Sure. Neither are we. But if you can't pass, you can't loosen up the run, and Bama's D will strangle you like an anaconda.

We cant beat bama because of the sec officiating. The cheat for bama. Its obvious, and defeats the purpose of debate. As long as Bama gets cheap first down calls on offense, and gets away with PI and cheap shots on defense they will continue to dominate sec conf games. We cant beat the refs.

Every bama big game this year in the sec had the same blueprint. Suspend a player from the other team in their game before bama, choke on whistles on defense, cheap first downs and timely calls on offense, and makeup calls when the game is already decided (we finally see flags against Bama).

Dabo has an unbelievable knack for instilling confidence and belief in his players. They execute phenomenally, especially in high stakes situations.

Yeah, but can they buckle their chinstraps in unison?

The biggest difference is that they have a consistent, cogent scheme
They also know they have to work to get better- that's on the coaches.

Clemson beat Wake Forest 63-3. They beat Louisville 77-16. 59-10 Florida State. You can go on and look at the other big scores they put up.

You can easily make the argument that is poor sportsmanship and overkill... I don't think it was. They KNEW they had Alabama standing between them and the title, and Alabama (always) has a monster defense. Those games were practice on a live field.

Now, look at LSU- we get near 30 vs Southeastern, and we shut it down. "Good enough to win", I suppose. But "good enough" vs Southeastern isn't going to be good enough for Alabama.
We need to work on perfecting the offense, so we can run it at a high level even when facing Bama.

If the coaching is bad, what should one say. Miserable because there is no leadership, no vision. But rah rah Tigers and Geaux Mr. Ed....!
